She Took the Sun
Farewell my sweet, sweet maiden
I hope to make it through the night
when you left, the stars died out
the sun could not bear to rise
you and many others have left me now;
said your goodbyes then soldiered on
as farther down this road you all travel,
growing so smaller until you are gone.
I ache and yearn to take you back-
to run until I hold you in my arms
but those still with me hang like chains on my legs-
I cannot stand to see them be harmed.
So I settle to know, one day I will,
pass through the depths of this dark pond,
and on the other side I will find you there,
and behind you, the rising dawn.
