Author's Note: I'm in the middle of completing a 100 theme challenge and Mirror and Broken Pieces were two prompts. So I combined the two into one one-shot. Thus, this story was born.
I turned completly different from what I wanted to write but that's alright. It turned out...bizzare. I'll go with that :)
For those of you who think I need a beta reader, I have one now :D She just didn't read this one. She'll read them in the future though :)
Please tell me what you think about this story :)

Picking up the mirror, Dean glanced at Sam. Sam nodded. Dean took one last look at what was in the mirror. He saw himself and his brother. He saw happiness. He saw hope. He saw love. Dean looked at Sam again who urged him to get the job done. Dean gritted his teeth. "I'm sorry," He muttered closing his eyes.
Dean then smashed his head into the mirror and felt the mirror shatter upon impact.
The hope vanished. The love vanished. His brother vanished. Dean looked at the broken pieces on the floor. He saw a million different reflections of him. Every one of them showed the same thing. The same hurt. The same pain. The same grief. The same regret. The same bloody face.
Dean knelt next to the mirror still in shock of what he had done. Dean felt the blood trickle down his face. He felt the tears mingle in with the blood and sweat. Dean clenched his hands and smacked one into the pile of broken pieces.
"Why?" He cried.
They had been working a simple case. A simple ghost haunt. It went wrong. Horribly wrong. They had been hunting a ghost. The ghost had the ability to place people into things. How the ghost did that, it was beyond them. The ghost had gotten to Sam before Dean could burn the bones. Dean had watched his brother being placed into a mirror. He went back to burn the bones in hope that Sam would be out of the mirror when he got back.
That wasn't the case.
The one thing Dean didn't know was that the mirror showed happier times. Happier times in which the viewer of the mirror saw what they wanted to see. So Dean saw himself and his brother happy, feeling loved, feeling hopeful and everything would be simpler. However, in reality, everything wasn't simpler, they weren't happy, they didn't fell love, and they didn't fell hopeful. Dean had to end it. He wasn't going to let Sam stay in the mirror all his life. Sam wanted him to end it too.
Dean hadn't wanted to but Sam insisted. So, here Dean was, kneeling in front of the broken pieces of his baby brother. The person he hadn't been able to protect. The person who he had failed.
Dean scooped up the broken pieces of the mirror and of Sam. He cradled them in his hands and he saw blood and tears cascade onto the shard of the mirror.
"Sammy, I'm so sorry." Dean cried holding what was left of his broken brother.
