Chapter 1 : Revoke

It was years after the catastrophe on Alcatraz Island. A couple since she took the cure. However, there were rumors going around the mutant community that it wasn't going to last forever. There was a small percent of mutants who were enraged with its' failure. Only time could tell when her moments of freedom from the curse, her mutation, would come to an end.

The Mutant Registration Act was still a bust, the X-Men still had ties deep within the government. Hank went back to being the Secretary of Mutant affairs; overseeing what they could offer the people of the United States of America. Times of peace were amongst them, but of course, it could only last so long.

Three of the founding members of Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters were long dead. Jean Grey, Scott Summers and Charles Xavier himself. However, a phone call had reached the new headmistress; Ororo Monroe, also know as Storm. On Muir Island, Moira McTaggert, found one of her brain-dead patients harbored a new passenger. When Storm received the message, she had only one person accompany her. Before they left, however, she entrusted Rogue, Bobby and Warren to the care of the students in her absence.

"How long will you two be gone?" Warren asked the weather witch, in Professor Xavier's old study. She turned to him, with a small smile.
"Logan and I should be gone for at least three days. We are expecting this place not to be a mess when we return. You both-" She turned to Bobby and Rogue. "-should be able to handle the children?" They nodded. Ororo smiled once more.
"Alright, well, please, and I mean it, make sure our new students don't fiddle with Cerebro."

She sighed, remembering when their newest recruit, Betsy Braddock, stumbled across the room. Curiosity took over the child. A click, bang and trip to the med lab later proved to the inexperienced telepath that just because the room looks simple doesn't mean the tool is such. Danger Room sessions for a month with Logan and she promised never to go in there again.

Ororo and Logan left with idle good-byes, taking off in one of the smaller jets. The three mutants exchanged looks with themselves.
"Uh... Well at least it's summer vacation, right?" Bobby looked a bit cheerful. Just the thought of having to deal with all the children, keeping the older teens in line, Danger Room sessions... Rogue put a hand on her hip, giving her distant boyfriend an incredulous look.
"Bobby, don't ferget. Just because some of thuh students ain't here, don't mean that they ain't a handful." She turned to face Warren who was watching the jet disappear into the distance. "We havta make a roster. Ah know it may seem that just 'cause Logan and 'Ro are gone, don't mean that this is gonna be easy; anything can happen in three days." Rogue put her fist under her chin in thought. 'Hm. That leaves Jubilee, Kitty, Pete, Betsy, and Sam.' Smacking her fist into her hand, she discussed who would be where and what duties would be sorted out.
"Jubes is the worst cook, she'd be more worried about if grease got on'er clothes. Ah think Pete would be a good choice, at least for this week. Sam would probably break the cafeteria tryna go from one side to another." A knock on the door disrupted kitchen duty roster for the week. Kitty popped her head into Xavier's old study. "Hey, Rogue? There is someone here for you." Rogue looked at Warren and Bobby, excusing herself from the duo. Warren spoke up before she left the room. "I agree, Pete will man the kitchen until they get back. Hey Kitty? Wanna help us out here?" She nodded and exchanged places with Rogue as the older girl left the room.

Shutting the door behind her, Rogue made her way to the front of the mansion. Taking a deep breath, she opened the first set of doors; closing them behind her when she was on the porch. Turning around she opened the second set of doors to see a blue man with several tattoos on his face. His face turned and smiled slightly. Rogue shared the same smile, ushering the elf-esque man into the mansion.

"Ah wasn't expecting to see you so soon, Kurt. How've ya been?"
"Vell, I have come bearing news." He slowly looked around the mansion. "Vere is everyone? I vas hoping to see Storm..." Rogue chuckled lightly, knowing that Kurt was infatuated with the weather witch.
"Storm and Logan went over seas for a couple days. They should be back by Sunday." She nudged him with her shoulder slightly. "Ah'm sure she'll be more than happy to see ya. Anyway. What news?" With a slight wave of her hand she spoke to him briefly about how she already knew the cure was wearing off, some new and old students arriving back at the institute. The blue man was shocked when he saw the pyromaniac waltz by like he owned the place.
"Oh, it's the elf. Hey, Rogue, do you know where Bobby is hiding? He owes me a danger room session." John cracked his knuckles to prove a point. Rogue only shook her head and told him where he could find him. Unknowingly to her, Bobby and Kitty were already walking to his room. "Thanks, see ya."

"We can go to the library to talk. There are no classes at the moment, it's summer after all. Ah'll show ya the way." She motioned for him to follow, feeling of trepidation coursing through her veins. She knew he came back knowing something about their parentage. Once they took a seat on the far side, in one of the many study cubicles, he started to speak.

"Ja. Vell. Since you already know about what the cure won't continue to do for you, I must tell you about the state of Brotherhood Affairs. It seems that Magneto has been slowly forming his group. One of mein contacts informed me of the whereabouts." Waving his hand in a dismissive manner, he continued on with what she really wanted to hear. "After I tracked her down, or what I thought to be where she was; I found another woman in her place. The woman goes by the name Irene Adler. She is a precog. Ah.. She can see many versions of the future. Anyway, she had let Mystique know people were looking for her. Irene also goes by Destiny. She knew I was coming, but thought I had you with."

She regarded him carefully. She received a call about a year ago finding out she had been adopted before living with what she knew as her parents. After years of not seeing her parents back in Mississippi, she thought she owed them. They never hated her or anything of the sort; only afraid. Her mother was so overjoyed to see her daughter when Rogue walked onto the porch.
After a proper sit down, they decided to tell her she was adopted. At first, she thought they really did hate her. Who would tell their child they were adopted after a life changing event like her mutation? They calmed her down of course, saying that she had every right to know. When Rogue asked them who her biological family was, they had no answers. That she was dropped upon their doorstep when she was around one or two years of age.

Kurt waited until she motioned him to continue. "It seems that Destiny was one of your relatives. Adoptive. She saw many variations of your futures, choosing what was best. I am not really sure why she told me everything. Maybe you can visit her and figure it out." He shook his head, knowing what she wanted. The knowledge of her biological parents.
"Adoptive huh? Continue."
"Mystique isn't aware of this, a psychic block was placed in her mind a long time ago. She is our birth mother. Yet she is unaware of this."
To say Rogue was surprised was an understatement. "So who's our father then? Why don't I look more like you?"
"We ah... Are half siblings. My father is a teleporter like me, but he died long before I was born."
"Ah don't have any of Mystique's powers though. Ah suck the life of people, copying their personalities, taking their memories and their powers."
Kurt voiced his opinion. "My father was red, whereas I am blue like Mystique. Nothing about me is the exact same as the two. She can change and copy into different forms. You can copy other people mentally and take them on a different way. However, Destiny did not let on if she knew who your father was. She has an idea, but she did not voice it. I kind of got the hint that not even Mystique told Destiny. Not sure who placed the block in her mind either."
Rogue sat quietly listening to Kurt. She didn't feel mad about it, not after the initial shock when she was told of her adoption. Slowly, she stood and walked around the library with her hand under her chin. She paused next to one of the books that Xavier had written, his thesis from years ago.
Kurt watched her walk around the room, his eyes falling to watch her feet scuffle on the floor. A moment later, there was a slight smoke rising from the hardwood floor. She paused, as did the smoke. She started to move again, it started again. Where she had paused, there were definite imprints on the floor. He was about to speak, but Rogue cut him off.
"Well, Ah suppose Ah should check on Bobby." She turned to him, continuing. "He's been actin' a little weird lately. Who knows? Maybe John actually beat him this time." She released a small, reassuring smile to her new brother. Waving good-bye, she left the room.

Kurt sunk into his chair, continuing to watch the steaming trail of footprints in the owners wake.
"If dis is what Destiny was worried about... I tink she ist richtige. Rogue's powers are manifesting strangely. Is she really a..." He shook his head and promtly teleported out of the room.

Rogue must have missed Bobby, as only John was left in the Danger Room. She pressed the button for the intercom, alerting him she was about to speak.
"Hey, John, have you seen Bobby?" He paused, and turned to look up at her from his work out. He put his hand on his neck and looked around nervously. He seemed to give up looking for him and responded sheepishly.
"Uh- Bobby went off with Kitty somewhere. I honestly don't know where-" He heard the intercom shut off abruptly. "Rogue? Rogue!" He cursed to himself, canceling the training simulator to rush after Rogue. "God dammit, you idiot. Just what she wanted to hear!"

Rogue ran up the steps two at a time. She barely registered what she was doing before she burst into Bobby's room. Her worst nightmare was on display for the entire mansion. Right in front of her, clothes scattered across the floor; was her boyfriend and best friend tightly lip locked. They broke apart at the sound of the bedroom door being ripped open. Once Bobby's eyes caught Rogue's, she was already backing out of the room. He pulled away from Kitty and reached for Rogue as she ran from the door way.
"Rogue wait! I can explain!"
John showed up from another direction, hearing Bobby yell after Rogue. He glanced inside the bedroom, and his eyes darted away. "Bobby, what the hell man? What are you doing?" Rogue was out of sight by the time he looked back to see where she went. Moments later, the trio heard the roar of a motorcycle. John ran to one of the closest bay windows to watch the backside of the woman scorned race out of the institutes grounds. He muttered obscenities and glared at the man who wronged her. "Good job, Ice prick. Who knows when she's coming back!"
Bobby had the decency to put pants on. "What the hell do you know, Allerdyce! Mind your own business. Where did she go? Which way-"
"Bobby, what is going on? I thought you broke up with her! All Rogue knows is that her boyfriend and best friend betrayed her, she was my friend Bobby!" Kitty fixed her blouse and left Bobby and John. "Until you break it off and fix things with her, I will never be with you. There is no winner in this, there is no way to beat around the bush. You can't have your cake and eat it too!"

The wind was racing through her hair at break neck speeds. She wasn't thinking clearly before she jammed the keys into Scott's old bike. She just needed to get away, the images of Bobby and Kitty continued to flash in her head. First in slow motion, then really fast. The flickering started to change. Kitty became someone else. Her eyes first morphed into blue and her hair became blond. Her face contorted into pain and horror. Rogue realized too late that she lost control of the bike when she ran into a tree at full speed. She flew through the air, slicing the trees like a knife through butter. She continued in the air until a cliff met her in the middle. The rock splintered and crumbled under the impact. All she remembered were birds flying away in fright.

"Charles Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters, this is Jubilee speaking." The phone was ringing for a good twenty seconds before anyone picked it up.
"Hey, Jubes, can ya put Rogue on the phone?"
"Mm can't do that. She took off somewhere after she caught Bobby with Kitty." She covered her mouth and blanched right after the words escaped her mouth. "You idiot!" She heard Logan growl over the line. Before she could speak, he cut in.
"Oh really. Where's the brat at? Hell, where's Warren at? I left those three in command until we got back." Logan grunted and she could hear Ororo berate him for his tone of voice and use of swearing. "I got it, Storm. Jubes, we'll be back in a few hours. We got what we came for." She heard the click and the end tone of the line as it disconnected. She turned to see Bobby walk in, immediately frowning. Putting the receiver down, she crossed her arms in a disapproving manner.
"Good job, Bobby. Our weekend was short lived."
"What's that suppose to mean?" She looked at him incredulously. "Was that Logan?" His voice was pathetically quivering in fear.
"Yeah. He wants to know where Rogue went. Who knows if she's coming back now! Good job, idiot!"
Bobby groaned in frustration. "Would you people stop saying that, how is it my fault? She left, so what? She'll be back."
"Really? You know Rogue better than most people here, Bobby. She left pissed off. On Cyclops' motorcycle!" His eyes were wide in seconds before she had motorcycle out of her mouth. He skipped out and ran towards the garage. "Do you know when they'll be back? I can track her." He turned back, as if expecting her to follow. She stomped her foot and followed him.
"Logan said they'd be back in a few hours. But since Logan's pissed, probably like an hour. Enjoy life while you can, you'll be a piece of meat by-"
"I get it, Jubilee! I get it. Let's just... Ah yes! She's... she isn't moving." Kurt chose that moment to teleport into the room; making it's two inhabitants jump. Jubilee turned to face the elf.
"Kurt! Can you teleport to this location?" She pointed to the screen. He frowned at the blinking light on the monitor. "Ah, no. I cannot. Unless I can see where I am teleporting to..." He trailed off and glanced to the side. He heard Bobby curse and slam his fists onto the desk top. "Why? What is that blinking light?"
Bobby replied begrudgingly. "It's Rogue. She-I-!" Jubilee turned and looked at Kurt while pointing a thumb in the direction of the Iceman.
"This guy pissed her off by sleeping with her best friend. She stormed off on the bike and we tracked her to this location."

John peered around the corner to find the coordinates to where they tracked her. Looking at the keys in his hands, he swaggered over to the garage and took one of the cars out. He didn't care if he was caught, but if they weren't going to do anything before Logan got back... He didn't want to think of the consequences. He followed the well known road for about an hour before he saw something ahead. He slowed and switched his hazards on until he parked the car. Looking in the mirror, he checked to make sure no cars were coming so he could exit the car. Closing the door, he noticed the bike right away. The front end was in shambles off to the right. He saw the rear tire in one of the trees farther to the left. He calculated the point of where she landed, only finding shredded trees in his wake. He was trekking for a good ten minutes before his face paled on the sight before him.

Walking up to the stilled body of Rogue, he reached up and pulled her from the crater in the cliff face. She was limp in his arms as he laid her on the ground. He went to check her pulse, but he felt the pull before his fingertips brushed her skin. He retracted his hand before her powers kicked in. Instead, he grabbed her shoulders and squeezed them; hoping it would wake her. Unbeknownst to him, she was struggling in her head.

Rogue only saw the scene of her boyfriend betraying her with a woman she never thought she would see again. The memory was buried within the deepest reaches of her mind. Next to her by the bus station, sat a woman with blond hair and blue eyes. She was nervous, like she didn't want to be there. Only Rogue and that girl where waiting for the connection to San Francisco; waiting for the line for the Cure. Rogue didn't speak at all to her, but what happened next- she thought she never would have imagined. The woman placed her hands on Rogue's throat. "H-Hey, let go!" The woman shook her head and held on tighter. She felt the stream of memories flowing into her. Powers from the girl. How she got there, how she knew who Rogue was. What connections she had. Destiny. A name and fate for both woman connected by the powers and skin. Rogue grunted and whined, trying to release the girls' hands from her. "Let go! You- Who are you!"
She felt the girl, woman, in her head. Clawing and scratching. Trying to take over. Rogue's mind was on fire, something in the furthest reaches was reacting. Light beams refracted, the woman, Carol, immobilized by the beams. The look on her face was of horror. She was mouthing something. Rogue couldn't understand. Before she figured it out, she gasped.

Logan and Storm returned with an unexpected visitor. Bobby stood frozen along with Jubilee and Kurt. They were mentally alerted by their old mentor. All the students present save for a trio in the form of Hank, John and a semi-comatose Rogue; in the med lab.
"Everyone, I would like to reintroduce Charles Xavier." Storm announced to the small student body as most of the others were away on vacation for the summer. The students murmured amongst themselves, in disbelief. They were stunned to hear his voice in their heads. Storm continued to explain the transition of the past Charles to the one they saw before them. Afterwords, Logan caught Bobby before he could escape. "Ya know, bub, Pyro ended up finding Rogue. Only she wasn't lookin' too good. I should just dice ya right now, but Storm won't have it." He crossed his arms over his chest. "I think Danger Room for six months should fix your state of mind. Don't start, you know how Rogue felt about ya."
"How is it your business! You said it yourself, Rogue's your friend. You're not her father, what-" His tirade was ended before it could begin when the front of his shirt was taken over by a very angry, adamantium clad fist.
"Like I said, kid, what I want to do and what I have to do all depends on Storm and Charles. Keep your mouth shut and behave like the good kid you are." Logan shoved him out of his face and followed a stern Storm to the lower levels. Bobby didn't dare look at the Professor as he leered at Logan's back. He turned and followed Warren to the recreational room.

Hank turned in his chair to see Rogue sitting upright, staring at the ceiling. The monitor she was connected to started beeping loudly as her pulse skyrocketed. He scrambled out of his chair and reached her side. His hands hovered over her exposed skin from where the rocks tore at her clothes. John had brought her back unscathed, from what would be a death blow. He only turned to see Charles along with Logan and Ororo walk in. Charles had a shocked expression on his face, only to concentrate with hands to his head.
'Rogue, hear me. Follow my voice.' He watched as the scene unfolded in his mind's eye. Someone had been sent to be purposely absorbed by Rogue. The woman known as Carol Danvers dropped to the ground, only able to let go of Rogue after her life was completely drained away. Rogue's face was motionless as her body staggered to remain standing. Another scene played, which was akin to what Rogue went through. Carol walked in on her mother during an affair. It triggered Rogue's mutation to return...mutated on it's own. 'Rogue, this is not your memory. Come back to us.'
She slowly turned towards Charles as the scene before them became dark and blurred. Rogue's hands went to her head, hearing the curses Carol sent her. She crouched only to jump into the sky, flying through at mach speed. She landed right outside of San Francisco. He followed until she went to a station, going to the Cure Clinic. She looked above her to see glass shattering and an Angel flying out of the Labs. She thought to herself, 'It's a sign... This is right.'
The memory faded in front of him yet again. It flickered until she opened the door to see Bobby and Kitty. Charles looked away. He looked back to see her on the highway. Rogue glanced down at the vortex setting. She turned it on and she flew down the road. "Rogue. It's all right. You are home now." He walked in front of her as she lay in the cliff face. His hand outstretched for hers. She looked up at him, confusion heavy in her eyes.
"Professor? How? You're alive?" Realization set in. "Ah-Ah didn't mean- She just- Ah!" Tears began to well up in her eyes as he pulled her from her memories.
Tears began dripping down her face. "Ah- Ah didn't mean ta, Professah. She just grabbed hold'ah meh. Ah couln't stop'er. She wouln't let go. Ah-Ah-" Her tears continued to fall as she realized what she did. "Ah killed her! An' she knew what was gonna hap'n. Ah just left'er there. An' Ah know who sent'er. 'Er name is Destiny. She told Carol it was a fate that she couln't escape so she forced her to come an' find meh. Ah killed-"
She started choking on her sobs, bringing her hands to her face.
Logan stood to her side awkwardly, not knowing what happened to his young friend. He never heard about what happened or when. Charles was in deep thought. He recalled a mutant by the name of Destiny as a mutual friend of Mystique. He shook the thoughts out of his mind as he focused on what he saw in his student's mind. A beam of light with fire curling around the edges. Something brighter than the other personality that Jean created. It disappeared before he could figure it out. He spoke then.
"Rogue, it's alright now. That happened a long time ago. We can figure it out in time. Right now, however, I think it is wise that you rest now. We can explain how I'm here when you wake up. Your friends are worried about you and are waiting right outside the door. Let's not keep them waiting." He nodded to Warren, Jubilee and John to enter. "Do not keep her long, she has had a long day. Storm. Logan." The duo followed Charles as Hank removed the medical equipment from Rogue's arms. He too, left after repeating the same instructions to the three that circled the girl.

"Hey girl. Are you ok?" Rogue scoffed after she wiped her tears from her face and sniffed unladylike. "Yeah Ah guess. After Bobby and Kitty doin' the dirty, reliving old nightmares and my powers returning; my day has been freaking fantastic."
Warren stood uncomfortably to the side. He heard her murmuring about an Angel. He realized he must have been the one he saw. He left his thoughts to himself.
John placed his hand on her shoulder. "Hey, you worried me there. I found Scott's bike wrecked with parts chillin' in the trees. When I walked up and found you in the mountain side, I was for sure you were dead."
She looked up at him, lips parted. He watched as her tongue licked them and slivered back in. John looked away nervously. 'You idiot, keep your dirty thoughts to yourself. She just found Bobby cheating on her and got her powers back in one day. Calm down, Romeo.' She cleared her throat, and he thought he was caught.
"Ah think Ah got enough excitement, lahke the Professor said before. Ah'm just gonna take a nap. Ah guess Ah'll see ya guys tomorrow." She slid into the bed and turned on her side, away from them. Her vision slowly blurred and she was asleep before she knew it.

A/N: Uh hey guys. I didn't like how I wrote the first rewrite. I have read a lot of fictions since I first wrote this. So I wanted to instal my own version about how Carol made her way in. She met her by accident when she was at a station in New York. I'm sure there was a clinic in that town, but I wanted it to be where she saw Warren fly out of the clinic in the movie. I am also going to try my best to make her less Mary Sue as my original attempt.
I would like to let you know that I have large plans for the rest of this story. It will be similar but uh... I can't leave spoilers.
I do not have a beta for this. I do not have internet access at my home, so I will update chapters when I can. I only have this first chapter done. It may become shorter. Who knows.

The sequel will follow this story line. I have drafts for it all over my computer. Wee!
Yes I'm sure you'll be lost between the first and second chapter. It is a new installment. I also realize that it's been more than a month. I am working on this as a hobby at the moment. I will be canon for the sequel. So enjoy this while you can!
Alright I'll stop talking now. *smiley face*
