I expand my wings,
Unfurling mighty leathery wings
In the swirling mists.
I leave my previous body in time's mists.
My shell of a body,
All torn and bloody,
I leave behind
The expanses of the mind.
My spirit is finally free,
My mind, body, and soul full of terrible glee,
As I soar in the night,
Full of delirious delight.
My mind widens,
It opens
To the world before me,
Yet below me.
I see worlds form and die
Stars destroying themselves in the sky
I wish this would never end,
But nevertheless, the night must end.
But oh, the horror!
Oh god, it goes on forever!
If only it would end, but I am going mad,
Stark raving mad!
I have been to the Gulf,
(Oh help me!)
I am not myself…
(Kill the demon!)
I am blabbering…
(Oh god it was horrible!)
Wildly gibbering!
(Don't kill me,
I am sane.)
For I have seen Azathoth,
And I cannot, having viewed that Chaos!
My body is far away,
my face is gone,
it is featureless,
yet another nightgaunt
Which throughout
the nights,
you,
I will haunt.
