Still don't own them, just wanted some fluff to distract myself from all the angst in my newest project "Rain Fall Down," now affectionately (or not so much) known as the Angsting/Unangsting of Mac and Stella. No spoilers really.

Mac leaned against the door frame, watching with amusement the scene unfold before him. Adam had just walked into the trace lab, handing her the results from a test he had been running for her on the most recent case.

"Here's the chemical breakdown of that swab from the crime scene. Sorry it's not the results you were hoping for." Adam's face changed to a scarlet hue as Stella's fingers brushed against his as she took the paper from him.

"Would you…I mean, uh…is there anything else I can do to help you Stella?"

She smiled at his nervousness. "No we're all set Adam. It's getting late. Why don't you head home for the night, we can come back tomorrow with fresh eyes. I'll be heading out too as soon as I finish up one thing."

Now fully flustered from their interaction, Adam quickly stammered out a reply and made his way to the elevator, mumbling to himself.

Mac chuckled as he finally made himself known as he walked into the lab. Stella turned around at the sound and offered him a wide smile, eyes sparkling at his presence. Mac flicked his eyes to the elevator doors as they closed before turning his attention back to the woman in front of him. "It would appear that our eager, young lab tech is quite smitten by your charms."

"Adam," she asked as she glanced to the elevator before looking around the empty lab. "Yeah, he's sweet."

"Ouch," Mac replied, making a sympathetic face.

"What are you talking about Mac?" Stella was confused.

"You know that's like the kiss of death for a guy to hear from a girl. It's usually followed with something along the lines of 'but I'm just not interested in you like that.'"

"Is that so," she replied, taking in the close proximity of the man standing in front of her.

Mac grinned as he moved in closer until their toes were touching. "Yup, every guy's nightmare response from a girl he likes."

"Good to know," she replied, brushing her fingers against Mac's before he caught hers, linking them together.

"So what about me," Mac asked, his thumb brushing against her knuckles lightly.

"What about you?"

"How would you describe me?" They had been dancing around each other for so long that he was curious as to what she would say.

Stella cocked her head to the side for a moment as if contemplating her answer. Letting go of his hand, she brought it up to the side of his face. Her eyes sparkled with mirth as Mac closed his eyes when she pressed her body closer to his, trapping him against the door frame. "You Detective Taylor? Hmm..." She brought her face closer to his as she whispered in his ear: "I would definitely NOT describe you as sweet."

His eyes sprang open as his gaze locked on hers. She slowly stepped back, allowing her finger to trail down the line of his jaw before turning away and heading to the locker to grab her things. Mac stood there, still in shock. He watched as she turned around to look at him before opening the door. Shaking himself out of his stupor, he quickly headed out the lab after her. This was definitely not something he was going to let slip out of his grasp.
