Luke and Hazel

She couldn't sleep, again. Whenever she couldn't sleep she went outside, it helped her relax, just to feel the night and the world all around her. Now she was dangling her legs over the side of a cliff and looking down twards a rocky pool 100 ft below her. And now she practiced. Whenever she was up late she tried to feel with the force, after all there was no one to be embarrassed to if it didn't work. She reached. Nothing but the cool night air and a owl's faraway "coo-coo-coo" answered her. She tried again, this time she felt someone, also using the Force, Master Kanobi? No, this was a younger being, lighter. Luke.

She slipped into the boys dorms unnoticed and using the Force she opened the door to Luke's room.

"Hello Luke." She used the force to say to him

"Hazel." He slowly put down the table he had been levitating. " I couldn't sleep, so I practiced." He said, out loud this time.

"Me too, I felt you using the force and… well…"

"You came to find out why?" he said, half questioning half stating.

"yes."

"I've been trying to lift heavier things, so maybe one day I can lift…" he stopped himself for blurting his foolish hopes.

"A person." She said softly, taking a step closer to him and smiling slightly, "I know, me too. Do you think you're ready?"

"Well… Maybe-Yes! I think so"

Now she used her mind again to say 'go ahead' and he stared at her, shocked. Why would she let an armature lift her? She repeated 'go ahead, I trust you.' with her mind, she was telling the truth. She trusted Luke with her life. And he did.

He focused on all the good memories he had, blowing up the death star, horsing around with Han and Chewie, and flying. But most recently, when a certain someone had stepped off her beaten up ship, hungry and alone. Teaching Hazel to fly faster and better during free time, him and Hazel beating all the guys in their fleet in a race.

Hazel was hit by thousands of memories, all from Luke's POV, and most of them with her? What? But now she realized that she was hovering just below the ceiling. She looked at Luke as she opened her eyes. Wow. He was so peaceful, just standing there, looking at her. Well, if he could do it so could she.

Luke was hit by a million memories; him and her, beating him in a race, making M2 her droid, watching fireworks go off from a distance, Floating in midair. And now he was too, floating, she looked up at him, and her eyes said WOW! That was the only way anyone could describe this experience. Slowly he slipped down to the ground, she relaxed in the air as he lowered her, but he didn't put her down, no…

Hazel settled in Luke's arms, safe and happy. Home.
