She started as just a friend
With Kirk out and Liam in bed, Maria had decided on a girlie night with herself and Carla Connor, a bottle of wine and a DVD usually went down well with the pair. She settled into her lush leather sofa, glass already in hand as she waited for her dark haired friend.
Carla was beautiful, no one could deny that, she had long glossy black hair and pouting red lips that could easily be kissed. Maria frowned slightly, stop it. One should not think of ones friend like so. It was...well, it was wrong.
So very wrong.
Maria moved her head into her hands, who was she kidding? She fancied her best friend and had done ever since the incident with Frank... They had gotten so close since then and she had just started to feel things that she shouldn't.
The brunette jumped when the door went, getting up faster then was necessary and power-walking to the door.
"Carla," She grinned, seeing her friend when the door was opened, considering recent thoughts she actually couldn't help but look her over. Black dress and heels. Shit. "I like the outfit."
Carla smirked, allowing herself to step closer against Maria as she moved into the Connor household. "Liam in bed?" She asked, Maria nodded. "Excellent."
Within minutes the DVD was on and the girls had gotten into a debate on who had dated the worst people, "Tony tried to kill me," Carla laughed. "I think I win."
Maria held up her hands, giggling. "Alright, fine. But you know you can't always use that as an excuse!"
The dark haired woman shrugged, "Okay...Have you ever thought about women?"
Maria paused in taking a sip, glancing to the TV to see Johnny Depp running up a beach with a tribe of natives running behind him. "Um..."
Carla smirked, she had made her uncomfortable, "It's okay if you have, y'know." She shrugged. "I wont judge."
"Have you?"
"I asked first, Maria." Carla rose an eyebrow, tilting her head.
"Okay." She pretended to think, tilting her head as she attempted to make something up in her head, "Once...in secondary school...this girl-"
"You're terrible at lying." Carla nudged her shoulder playfully, "Tell the truth, love."
Maria looked down, it would make everything awkward and Carla would probably feel the need to give the whole 'I didn't mean to lead you on, we should just be friends speech'. "I'm talking to her."
Carla bit her lip, looking Maria over, "I know."
"What?" Maria looked up, shocked.
"You don't exactly hide things, love," She grinned. "You wear your heart on your sleeve, that by the way, will get you into trouble." Carla sighed when she noticed how Maria's face had dropped, "Truth is, love, I feel very much the same."
"You do?" Maria frowned, "But Peter-"
"Forget Peter," Carla shrugged, smiling sadly. "He's with Leanne...and I like you."
One minute Maria had been listening to every word Carla said and the next their mouths were moving against each others with surprising familiarity, like they had been kissing each other for years. Hands tugged, teeth nipped, sounds were made.
The only time they spoke was when Maria pulled her head up from Carla and told her to be quiet becuase Liam was in bed and Carla had muttered a 'sorry' before pushing Maria's head back down.
They had gone from Friends, to enemies, to friends and now they were lovers.
But they wouldn't have it any other way.
