"I will be waiting for him to return. He did promised me that once he's done with everything he has to take care of, he'll come back for me."
Her voice resounded in Luke's head over and over again as he watched them bury her. It was an untimely death. Asch had told them that she only have a few months in her, probably a year or two. Tear, who stood beside him, placed a comforting hand on his arm.
"Luke?" she said. "I know it's hard for you, but at least she won't suffer any longer because of her sickness."
Luke forced a smile. "Yeah...but still..."
"Asch had entrusted you to take care of her." Guy said, joining them. "And you did everything for her, to keep her alive. But sooner or later, she's bound to die."
"I know that Guy!" Luke blurted out. "It's just that...even if I tried to contact Asch...to tell him to come over here, to fullfil her last wishes, he didn't come. Just how cold-hearted is he to let someone who wanted to see him in their last breath die without even saying goodbye." And then, a thought struck Luke. He'll find Asch and make him come to her tomb even just once. He turned his heels and left Tear and Guy behind.

Asch sat quietly in the shadows. He knew that he should visit her, for she'd been a friend through all his hardships in life, who sought him out after Van kidnapped him some years ago. He know that, after being used as an experiment for whatever Dist was up to is hard, and Asch saw that almost all of Dist's human experiments all end up dead or, for those who were lucky to survive, becomes some drooling moron, who had lost so much I.Q. or bodily controls. Asch once saw a man who had been a subject in Dist's experiment not so long ago, suddenly excretes some yellowish liquid from his pores that stinks. Dist had dismissed the man from his laboratory and let his underlings do the execution of the man for being a failure of an experiment. But thinking that she'll die because Dist had tampered with her very being, it was something that Asch couldn't bear.
"Just how many people I care for disappear from my life?" he thought bitterly, gripping his hands together tightly and he felt something hard between them. He looked down on his hands and saw a silver locket. He looked at it with his sad emerald green eyes. The locket had once belonged to her, and he knew who had given it to her: her fiance, who had died up front not so long ago. He knew that her fiance had been looking for her for a long time ever since she sought him out and disappeared without saying anything. Asch sighed heavily.
"Did Asch the Bloody just sighed heavily back there?" he heard a voice said. He looked up and saw Dist. Asch felt annoyed and stood.
"You should know better than intrude in a person's solitude, Dist." he said coldly.
"Oh?" Dist said, annoying Asch more. "I'll keep that in mind then."
Asch turned to leave, but Dist held him back.
"By the way, Asch," Dist said as an after thought. "Do you know where that woman had gone to? We were suppose to continue the experiment today but she mysteriously vanished a week ago."
"What woman?" Asch said tersely, not turning back to look. He knew Dist is looking for her, and he would not disclose her location. "And if she'd been gone for a week already from your laboratory, that only means she died already and been moved out or had escaped."
"No one can escape from my laboratory, Asch." Dist said coolly. "And she volunteered to be my test subject. Why should she leave me like that?"
Asch did not even bother to answer and left Dist behind. Maybe...maybe he'll contact that dreck of a guy and ask about her condition. If he could still make it, then he'll make it to the point that he'll stay by her side until her last breath...
