Fifteen years ago, May watched with wide eyes as her mother walked down the aisle, a white veil cloaking her undoubtedly elated expression.
"May, sweetheart, your father and I are getting our vows renewed next month!"
"Renewing vows? What's that mean, mommy?"
"Think of it like.. Getting married all over again!"
May's mother finally made it to the podium, the priest saying some mumbo-jumbo she couldn't understand.
"Why, mommy? What's the point?"
"You'll understand when you meet someone that makes you really happy."
May hadn't really understood what her mom meant, until her dad pulled back the veil, and a lovesick smile was gracing her mothers' lips.
There, she saw nothing but pure bliss and, as far as her 6 year old mind could comprehend, undying love.
There, she promised herself that she would find someone that would make her as happy as her mother. Someday.
It was pretty obvious the entire time, May had decided. (Mostly because she didn't want people to think she was that dense.)
But the day Drew decided to ask her to meet him at the Amity Square fountain, where he waited with a single rose and a confession on his lips, disbelief and shock were plainly etched onto her face. 'It was like Ash's Pikachu used Thunder Wave on me,' she recalled herself saying. Nonetheless, the same words Drew had spoken tumbled out of her mouth, in a messy jumble only Drew could understand.
But that was a year ago. Today, she stands here next to Drew, wearing nothing but white (earning sly glances from Dawn), as she waited for her turn to speak.
Finally, Drew pulled back her veil, and as he pressed his lips to hers, she felt a lovesick smile gracing her lips, that exact same smile from fifteen years ago.
There, she found herself thinking two things. One, she finally found the someone that would make her eternally happy. Two, she really wanted to renew her vows soon.
A/N: My first FF yay! Sorry if it's confusing . Quite a few random time shifts. And sucky ending . Just wanted to contribute to Contestshipping Day! (Because that is today, right?)
