He knew in that instant that John wasn't coming back. Sure he'd promised to return, but it was a hollow promise. To John it was just a one night stand with a rock star, something to brag about. Only John would leave out the part about him being male.
Feelings of betrayal rose inside of him, but were crushed soon after appearing. He loved John, even though he didn't really know him, and couldn't stop. He wanted to scream at himself, at John, at life. Walking over to the small desk in the room, he pulled out some paper and began to write.
Gazing from the stage
I saw you standing there
Swaying to my music
Like you were hypnotized
Then suddenly you stopped
Your eyes burned into mine
I knew I had to have you
If only for the night
You were waiting backstage for me
Took my hand as we left together
Jumped on my motorcycle
Your arms around me as we rode into the night
I kissed your sweet lips and my heart took off
And then you had to leave and you left me alone
You promised to return
But you left me alone in the shadows
It was over all too soon
I had you once and once was all
You left me standing there
Alone in the shadows
We held each other close that night
Like we were the only people on earth
And for a few short hors we were
Yet I felt like I was touching the sky
And that moment I knew I was wrong
This couldn't be just a one night stand
I had to keep you with me somehow
To keep you by my side forever
I kissed your sweet lips and my heart took off
And then you had to leave and you left me alone
You promised to return
But you left me alone in the shadows
It was over all too soon
I had you once and once was all
You left me standing there
Alone in the shadows
When he finished, he looked over his work. Tomorrow he would show it took his band. They were going into the studio at the end of the week and he was going to make sure that this song was the first single released. Wherever John was he'd hear it, even if he didn't realize it was about him, but how could he not? And no matter how long it, he would wait for him.
