Um… This is my first attempt at fanfiction in any form, so I would love constructive criticism. Is it too wordy, is my punctuation horrid, is it just horrible in general? (Wonderful compliments to sooth my ego would be great too.)
I obviously don't own White Collar. :/
In the light, the view off June's balcony was the ideal image was modernized beauty, both the towering, sleek skyscrapers and the more diminutive structures boasting their architectural features in easy view. In the darkness, however, the buildings were obscured and only the city's brilliant lights were clearly visible. Surrounded only by the disquieted night, Neal gazed out; taking in the manmade stars that blinked and swarmed in the void.
Taking a slow sip of wine, Neal felt alone in the city of ten million people, after all, who really cared? Who else is watching this sea of lights, unable and not wanting to put faces to those lights? Neal scornfully turned away from the sight. Who else was watching ordinary cars' headlights and homes' fluorescent bulbs and turning them into a pathetic metaphor of life? Shaking his head Neal set his glass in the sink and started towards his bed before he looked out of glass doors again, still seeing a sort of melancholy beauty in the electric lights.
Finally, after glancing at the bed once more, Neal sighed, he knew there would be no sleep tonight, not with all those fantastic orbs of light racing frantically here and there, only to inevitably vanish with the day's dawning. So Neal settled on the porch, to watch busy lives fade into the sun.
Oh! And this was inspired by Kutless' song "Sea of Faces" and because I don't think the producers show enough of a view off this apparently amazing building. Also, the nearest skyscraper is probably a couple hundred miles away from me… so my descriptions could be funky… Now I'm finally done rambling.
