A/N: Hello, all readers! Welcome to my fanfic, Kid Icarus: Revolution. This is basically just the aftermath of Kid Icarus: Uprising and the events afterwards. I plan on making this a whole story, so sit back and prepare yourself.

This chapter...is really in nobody's POV. Enjoy.

Chapter 1: Cleaning Up

Three days after Hades had been destroyed by Pit, Palutena called him once more. Palutena hardly ever gave Pit a rest—in fact, three days was probably the most that Palutena had let him rest, besides, obviously, the 25-year gap.

"Pit, I need you to go on a mission once more," Palutena instructed.

"What do you need me to do?" Pit asked, facing Palutena. "Don't tell me there's another big threat. After Hades, I don't know if I could take any more."

"Although their master was defeated, the Underworld Army is running rampant," Palutena informed Pit. "I'll need you to clean them up so they won't be a disturbance."

"Is there any sort of big-bad guy I need to take down?" Pit inquired.

"Nope," Palutena replied, shaking her head. "At least…I don't think there's anyone important you need to take down in today's mission. I'm picking up energy signals from something, but I'm not sure what it is yet."

"You mean…you're not sure?" Pit said slowly. "Hmm…is Viridi killing off humans at all?"

"She's been pretty quiet ever since Hades was defeated," Palutena answered. "Maybe she's off doing something else?"

"Are any other gods going crazy?" Pit asked, almost hopeful. He wanted a clear direction of where he was going and what he was doing.

"Nope, not one," Palutena said. "It's getting calmer after Hades's defeat, but the Underworld Army is our biggest threat right now. You'll need to take care of them before anything else."

Pit nodded. "So where exactly am I going for today's mission?"

Palutena smiled. "Where do you think?"

A few minutes passed before it dawned on the angel. "No way…the Underworld?"

"Uh-huh," Palutena confirmed. "Good luck out there, Pit!"

Before Pit could even protest, he disappeared.

"Ugh…" Pit groaned as the Power of Flight was activated. Pit's wings glowed with a blue color, and then Palutena was controlling his flight path, guiding him around the dull blackness that was the Underworld. Pit had equipped his Palutena Bow, though he didn't remember when.

"This reminds me of 25 years ago," Pit grumbled.

"Oh, right," Palutena said. "That was when you started in the Underworld first and kept getting finished all the time. That was a tough game 25 years ago."

"It was," Pit agreed. "But without their master, the Underworld Army wouldn't be that organized, since there's no one to lead them. This'll be easy!"

"And besides," Palutena added, "they never were really that organized when Hades was their master. I hardly ever saw them in a strategic formation."

Pit tuned Palutena out when she said this. He was shooting at a few Underworld enemies—Monoeyes, Miks, and others. "So," he asked, "when exactly am I going to be done with this?"

"Oh, when you clear out all of the Underworld Army," Palutena teased.

Pit, however, took her teasing literally. "No way! Seriously?"

"It was a joke," Palutena told the angel. "Don't be worried. Now that you're at the Underworld, I can sense that there are some pods in the Underworld that Hades created. The pods are endlessly creating Underworld enemies from human souls."

"Even when their lord isn't around?" Pit asked.

"Yep," Palutena answered. "I guess you could say they're on autopilot. You have to take down as many as you can, and also destroy as much of the Underworld Army as you can while you're at it."

"Got it!" Pit said excitedly. "You can always count on me, Lady Palutena!"

"Anyhow, I'm going to put you down here," Palutena said, changing the subject. She was talking about a dark, shadowy palace Pit was circling around. "That's where I'm getting the pod's energy signals from."

"Huh. That looks like Medusa's palace…" Pit remarked. Palutena rolled her eyes.

"It looks like Medusa's palace, but it isn't," Palutena replied. "Anyway, the power of flight is running out. I'm sending you in!"

As if on cue, Palutena directed Pit down toward the entrance of the palace, and smashed the door on the way in.

Pit slowly got up, rubbing his head. "Ow…" he muttered.

"Are you all right, Pit?" Palutena asked.

"My whole body just slammed into a door," Pit groaned. "I'm totally fine."

"Sorry about that," Palutena apologized. "Here, I'll give you some food so you can replenish your health." Two pieces of meat and some grapes fell down from the sky. Pit grabbed them, and after finishing them, his health returned to normal.

"Thanks, Lady Palutena!" Pit said as he started shooting at some of the Underworld Army troops. "So, where are the pods?"

"I'm sensing four of them," Palutena replied. "Each of them is in one corner of the palace. The closest one to you would be the one on the bottom left corner. I'll guide you there."

"Okay," Pit said. "If I shut down that pod, some of the troops will go away, right?"

"Well, they won't go away," Palutena sighed, "but the number of troops being created will diminish somewhat. We'll eventually eliminate the Underworld Army entirely."

"Great!" Pit exclaimed. His tone slightly dropped as he added, "Then maybe I can finally have some peace and quiet. The last game was way too hectic."

Palutena sighed once more.

—At the first pod—

In the center of a small room, at the very corner of the castle, was a pod with a shell all around it, guarding it so no one could possibly destroy it. The pod was giving off a shimmering light, proving that it was in work right now.

"This is it," Palutena announced. "This is the first pod you'll have to destroy. It's also the one I'm getting the most energy signals from, so destroying this will shut down more of the creation of Underworld Army troops than other pods."

"In other words…?" Pit asked.

"This is a more powerful pod than the others," Palutena explained. "There are going to be more guards around it, too, though, so be careful."

Pit gazed at the pod. "It has a huge shell around it," he said. "How am I ever going to destroy it?"

"Do you remember how you destroyed the Reset Bomb Pod in the Reset Bomb Depot?" Palutena asked. "Defeat its guardians, and the core will probably be exposed."

It turned out that the guardians were creatures that looked and acted similar to Reapers. The guardians were carrying giant scythes and summoning miniature creatures also carrying scythes. The only difference was that they didn't freak out when seeing Pit, and instead seemed to have more intelligence, attacking him more strategically, and in a way, more as a team.

"These guardians are tough," Pit grumbled as he was firing at one of the guardians.

"This pod possibly helped create them," Palutena pointed out. "They have a reason to defend it with all they possibly can."

Just then, Pit managed to defeat one and it tumbled into the space below the pod, causing an explosion upon destruction. The shell split off the pod and Pit saw his chance. He fired at the pod, but just then the pod regained its indestructible shell. More guardians tumbled down the abyss, replaced by more; more explosions occurred, and more chances to destroy the pod were given.

Finally, after clearing out the third batch of Reaper-like creatures, Pit finally fired the last shot at the pod.

"One pod down, three more to go!" Pit announced. But then the pod's light started to grow faint until no light was left at all. Then it started to explode.

"Get out of there, Pit!" Palutena yelled in alarm, and Pit managed to scurry out the door just a few seconds before the whole pod exploded.

"Wow," Pit gasped once he was outside. "That was a difficult boss battle. I didn't expect anything from a pod!"

"Remember, you still have three more pods to destroy," Palutena reminded Pit.

"…Darn it," Pit muttered.

—Three more pods later—

As the fourth pod was exploding, just as the past three had done, a bright beam of light was shining from above Pit. "I'm going to get you out of here!" Palutena explained. "Your mission is over for now." Palutena zapped Pit out of the exploding pod's room, and back to Skyworld, just in time.

Earlier, however, Palutena was gazing up at the sky. "The heavens are being disrupted," she murmured. "What is going on?"

A/N: How do you like the first chapter? Review if you have any suggestions/comments/concerns! And if you like it, follow and favorite. I accept constructive criticism, but not flames.

If you would like to suggest a plot idea, don't review and tell me through that, but please PM me - unless you're a guest, that is. If you are a guest, you can review if you'd like, but try to keep the idea as vague as possible so there aren't many spoilers if I DO use the idea.

That's all for today! I'll probably have the next chapter up by next week, but we'll wait and see.
