They were children, really, in the eyes of the larger exhibits, as well as Larry.
Being so small, so reckless, so childish, they treated Jedediah and Octavius like small - very small - children.
They didn't mind it so much - they had someone watching over them most of the time, which was helpful when in crowded rooms, but it was a pain in the ass whenever they wanted some time alone.
And the times they would be left alone were only short, and sporadic, someone always came along to shatter the moment.
It was especially annoying when Octavius and Jedediah finally got together.
They were almost never left alone, no private time for affection, mainly because when they were in their dioramas, privacy was far from possible, and anywhere they went - even the air vents - they were found.
Eventually, Larry realised what was going on, and offered to give them a private space, where they could go, and he would know they were safe.
True, it was in the security office, but the set up was rather nice. The night guard had given a makeover to one of the lockers, and made a small room - which was plenty big enough for the miniatures - and he told them that he would take them there every night, should they so desire.
They didn't end up using the room too often, because they enjoyed being treated like children sometimes, and they wouldn't ignore their friends for the world.
