Je veux bien y mourir, je ne veux pas y tuer.

It was silent.

Deathly so.

Considering that it had been loud, too loud for any normal person to be comfortable only two hours earlier, the lack of noise was odd. Seemingly incomprehensibly.

There was an almost stupid amount of bodies lying on the ground, still unmoving. But for every one that wasn't moving, there were two that were groaning or trying to move without much success due to the amount of blood around.

Will looked up at the sky. It was clear blue and refused to change. There were no clouds and would have been a lovely day had there not been hundreds of dead lying on the floor beneath his feet.

'HALT!' cried Gilan, coming up behind Will. When he reached him, he asked the unwanted question. 'Have you found him?'

'Not yet,' Will replied and then started calling Halt again.

As they were walking along, checking every dead body just in case, a moan started calling out at every call.

'HALT?!' Will yelled, starting to panic.

'Will?' came an almost silent whisper.

'I'm here!' Will cried and started running towards the dim noise. As soon as he reached Halt he fell to his knees and with shaking hands started to reach for his bandages.

He paused when a bloody one landed on his arm, leaving a hand print.

'Don't bother. There are people who it could save,' Halt muttered. Will looked at him with wide eyes and then looked away and let out an ear piercing whistle.

'I have told you before and I will tell you now, those hurt,' Halt muttered but nodded in understanding when he saw that Gil had ran over.

'Halt! Quick Will, we have to stop the blood flow!' Gil said.

'Stop Gil. You know better. I am going to die no matter what you do,' he said and then pushed Gil's hand away from where he was trying to apply pressure on Halt's wound.

'Humour me?' Gil pleaded and continued to apply pressure but this time Will joined in.

Two hours later and Halt was sleeping peacefully in another room in the already well too crowded infirmary.

'How is he going?' Gilan asked Will when he walked into the room.

'They say that he is going to survive the night but past that they wont be able to tell until tomorrow,' Will said and then walked back into the room.

'We will just have to see,' Gil finished and follow Will in to see their mentor.
