*I do not Jane and the Dragon or its characters
it's beyond me where the idea came from, but I had fun. I do take requests, only if I find it acceptable. Pm if you have any requests, I always enjoy new ideas. Hope you enjoy!
Taking a sniff of the rose before him, he commented "You are by far the loveliest rose in this castle and that is saying a lot"
"Who are you talking to Jester?" asked Rake
On this day of all days, about the same as yesterday, the fool hid behind a bush of roses, admiring more then just the plant life. His open admirations carried more meaning then the gardener wanted to know. Placing a light kiss on its petal, Jester sighed "Can you not see how I am paying this rose various compliments? She looks so delicate yet she is on guard everyday of her life. Well a rose is a rose I suppose"
Though from where he stood, Rake could clearly see they were not the only ones in his garden. "Oh, I see what you are doing. You are spying on Jane again aren't you?"
"Lower your voice or she will hear you"
"It is not nice to use the roses for your pretenses Jester"
"Rake, I am sure these lovely beauties will understand. We are talking about unrequited affections here. For surely you have heard the saying that it is better to steal a glance then to paint a picture? Slowly I have been trying to memorize her form so that I could use it as reference in a ballad of mine"
No matter his purpose or intentions, we all know know who Rake favored. "Jester if you would just apologize"
"Alright, how about this? Roses are red, violets are blue
That is what they say, but it just is not true!
Roses are red, and apples are too
But violets are violet, violets are not blue!
An orange is orange, but Greenland's not green
And pinkies are not pink, what does it mean?
To say something's blue when it is not, defiles it
But oh, it is so hard to rhyme violet"
Picking up a shovel, Rake threatened "It is my duty to guard the royal garden at all costs Jester"
"Goodbye my lovelies, I promise you good tidings and I will be back very soon. But be careful or I might come back to pluck you at noon"
Chasing Jester off with a shovel, Jane sat back and laughed from her place under the apple tree. "There he goes again today, just the same as yesterday"
"When are you going to tell him you know?" asked Dragon
"Soon, soon, but for now let's enjoy the entertainment" she giggled
Being chased all around the garden, it was just another one of those days for Jester I suppose.
Certainly there was more than just hidden pretenses and hidden pretenders but that is a story for another day. For now I say goodbye and bring this story to a close.
