It had been a year since he proposed to her, three years since they'd started dating, seven since he fell in love with her, and fourteen years since they met. Although I'm not sure how it all happened, they were inseparable from the day they met. That is until my grandfather, Voltaire, chose to take matters into his own hands. He couldn't have Tala, one of his best bladers, losing his edge because of a girl he'd stolen off the streets of china. He'd forcefully separated the two and trained the both of them intensively. She was the only one I knew who had changed the most since she arrived. Her name, was Tora Kon. Name sound familiar? Yes, that surname, also belongs to Rei of the white tigers. She happened to be his older sister, the sister he hardly knew due to, well you know, my grandfather.
In case you haven't figured out who's narrating this yet, It's me, Kai. You may wonder why I am telling this story to you, so I'm going to tell you straight out. I owe Tora a favor for something that will be a story for another time. Right now, this is a story about Tala and Tora. Yeah, you read right, I said Tala. The cold and power hungry Tala fell in love with the warm and friendly Tora (who would later change in personality). Who would have thought right? I guess I have no room to say that he was cold and power hungry because, I too, was like that at one point. I'm going off subject again, let's hurry and go to the beginning of their story. The day they first met.
She stood in the middle of the lab crying and clutching onto a photograph. At the time, none of us knew of who or what it was of. Her crying had annoyed me and I was about to walk over to her to tell her that whatever she was crying about, she needed to get over because tears wouldn't make her feel any better, but Tala got there first.
"What good is crying going to do you huh? It isn't going to change anything so why don't you just get over it." he'd said.
It looked like what he was doing was bullying the poor girl but, I'm pretty sure it was his way of telling her to make light out of her current situation. Back then, he wasn't the cold-hearted Tala that we all know today. He used to be a pretty caring kid but, we'll get into those details later.
"Ok..." She mumbled before she took a deep breath and closed her eyes to stop her from shedding anymore tears. Tora then looked towards the redhaired Russian and smiled. "I'm sorry." She said and looked down at her picture. "My name's Tora Kon. What's yours..? If you don't mind my asking."
Tala looked on at the girl a little shocked at how fast she could switch from one emotion to another. He almost didn't hear her question. "...Tala Valkov..." he said as he regained his composure.
Tora then held out her hand and waited patiently for him to take it. When he did, she beamed with a light that no one but he or I could see. "It's nice to meet you!" She chirped.
I walked past them when I heard Tala mumble to himself. It was almost inaudible but, I could have sworn that I heard him swear to protect her innocence...
