Just because you love someone with all your heart doesn't mean that person does not have quirks that can irk you...
I love Zuko, but...
His intensity can be overwhelming. I love it that he focuses so much on me – it's so very flattering. But there are times when I feel a bit smothered.
I love Mai, but...
Her sarcasm can get annoying. I love her wit – it's as sharp and direct as her knives. But sometimes I'm just not in the mood and she really doesn't know when to quit.
I love Sokka, but...
Sometimes he just over-thinks things. I mean, it's good to be thorough, but you don't need to plan what's suppose to be a casually romantic picnic lunch right down to the last footstep.
I love Suki, but...
There are certain things that she just can't let go. I make an off-color quip that I really don't mean and she makes me put on that damn dress and spend three hours in the dojo going through Kyoshi-style katas.
I love Aang, but...
I just wish he'd focus a bit more. One minute I'm showing him a new Waterbending form, and then when I turn around to see if he's following, I find him trying to get a piggyback ride from a hogmonkey.
I love Katara, but...
She has a jealous streak in her that's surprising. Usually she's very warm and friendly, but last time we were in the Fire Nation capitol she was glaring like a plague wind after I spent just five minutes talking to On Ji.
Author's Note: Inspired by a story also called I Love Him/I Love Her, But... by Lord Archive, a fairly prominent Ranma ½ writer from some ten years back.
