Introduction

He was never one for first impressions- not that he even met many people in the first place. Always keeping to himself, he didn't know how to act or what to wear or what to say when meeting someone for the first time.

Of course, he knew the main things but not much about pleasantries such as, 'How's the weather outside?' 'How is your family doing?' 'How are you?' 'Are the kids doing fine?' 'Would you like some tea?' 'Oh, please, sit.'

Perhaps, the fact that he didn't care what other people thought of him didn't help much. He didn't care what they thought if he wore jeans and a white shirt, or how he ate sweets at all times, or his odd manner of sitting, or how he never wore shoes. They did not know the reasons behind his actions, so they should have no reason to judge.

It was their opinion, anyway. He can't decide what they think. Besides, they can change their mind later on, when they truly got to know him.

Perhaps, that was why he didn't leave a good first impression when he first met the Japanese Task Force- when he stuffed his hands in his pockets, barefoot, hair as messy as always, and all he said was,

"I am L."
