Before The Fall

The Mexican weather was hot and sticky like red hot chilli peppers, which was nothing unusual as it was summer. The morning market below

was already full though even though it was only six thirty. "These people must be crazy to wake up this early to just go to the market, in-fact

they must be crazy to actually live in this country" I muttered. "At least they get to live" said Anny hollowly. Anny was my best friend up here,

she had golden hair that was curly at the end and blue eyes that twinkled brightly. She could also control the elements, all five. But then I

could talk to spirits and levitate which only added to my own awesomeness. We watched as the people wound their way in and around stalls

that sold anything from barrels of bull chopping to postcards. I can still remember the game called 'Who? Where? Why?' we used to play where

we would take turns in picking out a person at random and guessing where they were going and what they would buy or not buy. Whoever

got the closest would get to choose the next person to stalk. But soon enough we realised that the more we played this game the more we

wanted to be down there with the humans. I myself wished more than anything that I could go down to this market and taste the spices and

exotic fruit. To be able to hear the bird songs that I have forgotten, there weren't any up there. That's when I fell. Soon followed by others.

When I turned to face the market I was falling to at agonising speed, I hid away my wings and got ready to land in a crouch. As I fell ready in

position something told me I wouldn't be seeing Anny ever again.
