What hurts more? To leave behind or to be left behind?
To Leave Behind
Kakuzu lied in the crater made by the blonde jinchurikki's wind technique. He couldn't move, the pain in his limbs at the extreme. He heard someone walking towards him and makes an effort to look up. It was the mask ninja called Kakashi.
"I can't believe…I lost…to a bunch of children" he mumbled.
He could barely hear Kakashi's word, something about the next generation. Then, he saw a bright light in Kakashi's hand and suddenly, a series of memories flashed through his mind.
Hidan. His love Hidan
"Hidan, I'm so sorry. I never wanted to leave you." Kakuzu thought, "I never wanted to leave you behind."
"DAMMIT, I WANT TO LIVE!" Kakuzu screamed in his mind, "I WANT TO BE WITH HIDAN!"
Kakuzu saw Kakashi raise his hand, preparing to strike. Kakuzu feels tears stream down his face as he thought of Hidan's grinning face.
"Hidan. I love you. I'm so sorry…for leaving you."
That was the last thought Kakuzu had when Kakashi dealt the last blow.
To Be Left Behind
Kisame walked to his room, feeling slightly numb. It was due to the news he received.
Itachi Uchiha was dead. He died during the fight against Sasuke.
Kisame knew this was going to happen. Itachi told him of his failing eyesight, the reason of his clan's massacre, why he left Sasuke alive and the reason for joining the Akatsuki. Kisame was prepared but still it was a shock to his system.
He went to his bedroom and laid down on the bed. His thoughts were consumed with Itachi. He thought of the times he used to buy dango for him, whenever they had sex, and when he held him whenever he had nightmares. All these memories cloud Kisame's mind as turned over on the bed.
He could smell Itachi's scent and he inhaled softly.
Then the tears came.
Kisame sobbed as he clutched Itachi's pillow. He wanted Itachi back!
"Itachi-san" Kisame sobbed "Itachi-san…please…please come back…please"
Kisame then shot up from the bed and sobbed harder.
"Itachi!" he yelled "Why? Why did you leave me?"
Kisame then sank to the floor and cried into his arms, as he remembers Itachi's rare smiles.
"Why did you leave me behind?"
What hurts more?
To leave behind or to be left behind?
The answer is…they are both hard to do.
AN: This was an interpretation of a drawing someone drew on deviantart. Here is the link; .com/art/We-cry-and-ask-Why-125248677?q=&qo=.
Another one inspired by Fruit Basket. Augh, a lot of angst though! I don't own Naruto!
