My Lover Taught Me Taste
Aang leaned back in his chair, feeling the blaring sunlight hit his eyes once again. It was tiresome just to look at the stacks of papers on his table, and it was even more frustrating when there was nothing else for him to do about it. For a moment he tried to calm himself down from the situation he was in. Raising his fingers to his forehead and pressing against it to somehow shun away his headache, he used his airbending to blow away a mosquito that entered his room. He closed his eyelids and sighed heavily.
"Ugh!"
He stopped and listened, hearing Katara groan from the common room. His first reaction was a frown. Just a few seconds ago Katara was perfectly fine, fingering an orange around and losing herself in deep thought. What could have happened now? He gently turned his neck around to look at her from the doorway.
The Avatar didn't expect himself to see his lover this way. He noticed her scrunched up features and her lips carved into a rigid frown, beautiful eyes squeezed shut. Her fingers held onto the piece of orange tightly, and trickling from her lips were the juices that gushed their way onto her lap.
Quickly the Avatar rose from his chair and made his way towards the common room, glancing at the beauty in the blue dress. He pulled up a chair and sat beside her.
"What wrong, Katara?" he inquired worriedly.
"This…orange…" she said, squeezing her eyes shut again.
He gave her a puzzled look, glancing from her to the orange and back to her again. "Orange?" he said jokingly. "What could this harmless little orange possibly do to a masterwaterbender?"
"It's so sour…" she said, sitting up straight.
"Sour?" he asked, feigning relief. "Well that's a good sign."
She raised her eyebrows. "What?"
"For a second I kind of panicked." He laughed. "So…the orange is sour, huh?"
He leaned in closer to her, wrapping one arm around her waist and drumming his fingers on her side. She laughed from the contact, nodding. "Well…yes…"
"Hmm… let me see..."
Katara attempted to give him another piece of orange, hesitating at first. "Okay... brace yourself-"
But she was instantly cut off by his lips on hers. For a second she blinked rapidly, blushing wildly and staring at the airbender. She eventually gave into it, however, and felt him smiling into the kiss. When he pulled away, he grinned in his good natured way. "See? That orange wasn't so sour."
She looked at him innocently. How could the orange not be sour if it squeezed the taste buds out of her mouth?
"It was sweet." The airbender whispered, smiling wider.
She blushed deeper when she realized what he truly meant. She could see his eyes sparkling. With a shy smile she nodded.
"I guess so…"
"Actually, I'm not completelysure." He flashed her a wink. "I would love to taste it again and confirm."
And again he leaned in, this time making complete sure of keeping his lips on hers for a longer time. Yep... he should definitely start having more sour oranges around.
