"Here you go, Ed," Wilt said, passing over the supplies to make Valentine's Day hearts. All the friends of the house were busy decorating the main hall in celebration. The windows were plastered with construction paper hearts and the floor was covered in glue and glitter. Eduardo, however, was wary of joining in the festivities.

"AUGH!" he screamed, shrinking back from the scissors Wilt was offering to him. "What are you doing? You could put someone's eye out!"

"I'm sorry, but that's only if you run with scissors," Wilt said reasonably.

"And what if you are sitting with them?"

"Ed, they're safety scissors," Wilt said, showing off the pair in pink plastic. They were fashioned in the shape of a bunny, smiling face at the joint and its two long ears as the handles. "They can't hurt you at all, even if you tried." To demonstrate, he cut at the knobby stump of his other arm. "See? Not even a scratch."

Eduardo was, in fact, not "seeing", but was instead covering his eyes and hollering in horror.

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry," Wilt tried calming him down. "Here, how about I cut out the heart and then you can decorate it?"

"Really? I guess that is okay," Eduardo sniffed.

Wilt cut out a heart from a fresh sheet of red construction paper and handed it to Eduardo, along with some glue and bottle of glitter.

"AUGH!" Eduardo screamed, "Get that away from me! The tiny flecks of glitter, they will get in my eyes."

"Oh," Wilt said, non-plussed. "Um, I'm sorry. I guess I can put the glitter on for you."

He squirted a line of glue around the edges of the heart. Once Eduardo was at a safe distance on the other side of the table, Wilt sprinkled glitter all over until the white paste was covered up. Eduardo cowered, ready to shield his eyeballs in case any stray fleck should fly his way, while Wilt lifted up the heart and shook all the excess glitter off.

"There we go! Just wait for the glue to dry and then you can write a message on your heart," Wilt said, pointing at a nearby box of crayons.

"AUGH! I cannot use those! They are too sharp!"

So Wilt waited until the glue was dry before scribbling "Happy Valentine's Day!" on the heart in pink crayon.

"All finished," he said finally, holding up the finished product.

"Wow, it is so pretty," Eduardo smiled, gingerly taking the heart in his hands.

"You did a good job, Ed."

"Gracias. I make it for you," Eduardo said, passing back the Valentine.

"Aww, thank you!" Wilt said, taking the proffered heart while whipping out another one from behind his back. "I made one for you too."

"Oooh! That is so nice of--" but Eduardo cut himself off with a gasp. With a stricken look, he slowly held up a clawed finger as his eyes brimmed with tears. "AUGH! Papercut!"

They left their valentines on the floor while Wilt escorted him to the bathroom for a band-aid.
