Alfie Lewis stood walked outside of a jewelry store, heart racing. He was now twenty-five and proposing to his long time girlfriend, Amber Millington. They had moved to New York a while ago, and lived in a small apartment.

They met around the age of eleven, and began dating in high school. They graduated, and went off to wherever the world would take them. And of course Alfie knew that Amber was a bit high maintenance, but they were definitely made for each other.

"Hi beau!" Amber called as Alfie entered their apartment.

"Hi sweetie, how was your day?" He asked not really paying attention to her but instead trying to hide the box in his pocket.

"It was good, Lani liked my design, and said she might even give me a promotion." Lani was her director at the fashion company Amber works at.

"That's great!" He grins, picking her up and hugging her. "So how about for dinner tonight we go out?"

"Yeah sure, how about Olive Garden?" She suggests.

"Mhm. Let me just go get ready and we can go."

An hour later, Alfie and Amber were seated at a table, Alfie picking at his pasta in nervousness. "You okay? You're not really eating." Amber notes, eyeing him suspiciously.

"Yeah I'm fine, not really that hungry today. My stomach's probably just upset, I'll be fine." He covers quickly, and she nods. Alfie watches the people around him. She sees two teenagers who look to be on their first date, exactly how Amber and he were. And then to his right is a loving couple who are holding a small child. That's how he wanted it to be someday, but he needed to make a move now. "Hey Amber?"

"Yes?" She says, not looking up from the table.

"You know I love you in any an every way possible, and that I always will?" He blurts out quickly.

"Yes Alfie-"

"How is your food this evening?" The waiter cuts off. Alfie's blood begins to boil, and Amber simply just smile.

"It was great, thank you." She replies politely, ignoring Alfie. (Which is good for his sake.)

A few days later Alfie tries to propose when she is driving home from work. He climbed up on a highway, and has a huge sheet dangling down embellished with the words: 'Amber, marry me?' And as soon as he saw her Ferrari turn the corner, he felt his heart jump. But just as she was about to see it, the wind blew it backwards, and flew onto the other side of the highway.

After two failed attempts, he sat down on the couch, and began to think to himself. He then remembered the advice Eddie had given Fabian when he was proposing to Nina.

"Do what you're good at. You can sing, play guitar. So write her a song or something, and then pop the question at the end."

And it was then when Alfie remembered what he was good at: telling jokes.

"Hey Ambs." He smiled nervously, holding the small velvet box in his pocket.

"Hey Alfie. Do you want to watch a movie?" She suggests.

"Yeah sure. But first can I tell you this new joke I came up with?" He blurts way too fast.

"Sure?"

"Knock knock." He starts.

"Who's there?"

"Mary."

"Mary who?"

"Marry me?" And that was when he dropped down on one knee, pulling out the ring.

"Oh Alfie! Yes! A thousand time yes!" She squeals, as he slides the ring on her finger.

Then it was seven months later when Alfie was hearing the words: "You may now kiss your bride."
