Man's best friend
Sayu was at the pet store. It was Raito's birthday and she wanted to get him something special. She paid the cashier and left with her purchase. When she got home, her brother wasn't home. That was good. She went up to his room, and put his present on his bed. She left, closing the door.
Raito came in and went up to his room. He instantly knew that someone had been in his room. Not only was the little piece of paper not in the crack, but the handle was normal and the piece of led was broken. When he opened the door, he saw his present. The little dog was tearing apart his once clean room.
He grabbed the little animal and took him downstairs. 'Sayu! What is this?' Sayu looked up from the magazine that she was reading.
'It's your birthday present! Don't you like him? His name's Spot. Because he has spots.' Raito looked at the dog in his hands. Sure enough, it had spots. Black ones. One was over his right eye.
'Why would you give me a dog?'
'Because studies prove that pets are a stress reliever, and you seemed stressed.'
'I AM NOT STRESSED!' Raito stomped upstairs. He slammed his door and locked it. Spot looked at him. His ears lifted up. Raito turned to his desk and sat down. He got out his pen and started scribbling in his note book. Hmmm… I wonder what he was writing about. When he was finished his latest killing spree, he noticed that the dog was going crazy. He was running from the door, jumping on the bed, going to the window, going back to the door and starting the obstacle course all over again. He opened his door and the dog instantly ran outside. Raito followed him. His mother was there.
'Don't forget to feed him' she said, handing Raito a dog dish and food. He filled the dish, and the dog was immediately at the boll, gobbling it down. When he finished, he started jumping up and down, trying to bite Raito's hand.
'You can take him back up to your room.' His mother smiled. Raito took Spot to his room. Once up, the dog started running around the room yet again. Getting frustrated, Raito walked to his desk.
In the notebook, he wrote Spot. Then, he waited. 12…16…19…23… Why wouldn't it hurry up? 27…29…32… Come on! Just die already, stupid dog. 37…39…40! He looked to the dog that he expected to be dead. But, instead, he saw two! Two dogs? How could that happen? 'Ryuk! Why isn't this dog dying?'
'Well, I don't know. I've never tried to kill a dog before. Maybe with animals, instead of dying, they just multiply.'
'What? No, my Deathnote couldn't betray me. Never!'
Raito then proceeded to right 'Spot' in his notebook about twenty times.
'Do you want a dog?' Raito asked a middle aged woman. He was on the side of a street with fifteen dogs. So far, he had only gotten rid of six. He hoped he could get rid of the rest. But, he had already been out there for an hour.
'Do you want a dog?' He asked a little girl.
'Okay!' She said. He didn't care if it wasn't the right thing to do by asking a little girl if she wanted a dog. He was evil. Why would he care?
'Woof woof!' The little dog barked. After two days on the street, he had finally gotten rid of all the dogs. Except the original. The original was still here.
'Stupid dog.' He said.
'The Spot's not stupid! And he has a name, you know!' His sister called from the living room. Raito took Spot upstairs. The dog started barking. Annoying little thing.
Raito lied on his bed. Instantly, Spot jumped up and started licking his face. He petted the dog. For a stupid, annoying, hyper little thing, he was okay. Raito admitted to himself that he was sort of glad he hadn't gotten rid of this one. Maybe his sister was right. Maybe they did reduce stress.
Then the dog bit his ear.
'Hey Missa.' Raito walked into her house. 'I have a present for you.' He pulled out the spotted dog and handed it to her.
'A puppy? Thank you, Raito! Thank you!'
