Jealousy

"Two caramel macchiatos please!" Phil almost sang our order to the Starbucks cashier, he was so cheerful and adorable. After my boyfriend paid and picked up our drinks, we claimed our favorite table by the window where we could enjoy a casual and perfect date, just us two.

We had been busy making each other laugh and smile when suddenly his eyes diverted away from me, and locked on something, or someone in the back of the cafe, standing in line. "What the hell..." I mumble and I turn around to see who Phil was looking at. Sure enough, there's a cute, blue-eyed blonde boy in tight jeans standing there like he owns the place. "PHIL!" My voice radiated anger.

"Cal? Cal!" Phil called the name across Starbucks, and his eyes lit up when he confirmed that this twinky stranger was, in fact, Cal. Ignoring my rage, Phil stands up and practically skips to this boy, and picks him up into a spinning hug. "Those are my hugs..." I grumble to myself, giving this bitch the death glare.

"Phil! It's so great to see you!" Ugh his voice was awfully sweet. Ew. He stood about six inches shorter than Phil (perfect bitch height) and he wore a stupidly nautical outfit, like he was about to go on a boat or something. I could not contain my sneers.

I look a little lower and notice that this "Cal" is still holding onto Phil's arms after their stupid hug, talking like it wasn't a big deal or anything, while I'm siting right here. This fucking slut...

Phil finally turned towards our table. "Dan! This is the Cal I've been telling you about!" I haven't ever heard of no Cal. He grabbed this skank's hand and lead him over to me, unaware that this action is like waving a gazelle in front of a lion. I'm fitting to pounce. "And Cal, this is Dan!" Why didn't Phil introduce me as his boyfriend? Is Phil swinging with Cal on the side? Though I'm jumping go conclusions, I'm beyond furious, and my expressive face felt hot and no doubt showed it all. My eyes stabbed deeper into Cal's soul, but he didn't seem to notice.

"How's uni?" I heard Phil begin another conversation with this Cal character as I continued to judge. No. Stop that, you bitch. Hands off my man. Did you just fucking touch Phil's hair? Oh no you didn't. You're asking to get your skull split right here, right now. I stand up violently, hands already in fists, practically growling, and I approach the situation.

"How's Auntie Bette doing? And Uncle Ron?" Phil asked Cal innocently. They finished their conversation as I added two and two together.

"I gotta go! See ya at Christmas, Phil!" Cal was just as cheerful as Phil, and had the same deep blue eyes too. "Bye Dan!"

Phil turned back around and saw the remnants of confusion and fury left on my face. "You okay?"

"Who the hell was that."

"My cousin Cal, remember? I've shown you pictures with him in them." Oh.

"Byeee, Cal! Good to see you!" My goodbye just made it to Cal's ears, and he waves back at me, smiling out the Starbucks door.

"Wait, Dan? I know that face. And your hands are in fists! You were about to start a fight!" Phil was surprised and amused at once.

"Was not!" I was getting defensive.

"Yes you were! Don't lie to me."

"Fine."

"What was wrong, Dan?" Phil seemed a little bit angry but he would never yell or swear at me, ever.

"I don't know. I didn't recognize him at first and I thought it was some tart that wanted to steal you away from me." Wow I really felt the shame setting in.

All Phil could do was chuckle. And then he laughed big, proper laughs that lit up the whole cafe. He was soon blushing and pulled me into a hug, still giggling like a little boy.

"Why the fuck are you laughing at me, you twat?" Some of my leftover pissed-off-ness seeped its way back up to my face and voice when I said it.

Phil kissed my cheek and took my tense hand into his relaxed one. "You're just too cute when you're jealous, Daniel."
