She felt her body shake as the rain continued to pour over her body, drops of water falling around her face as she sat with her knees pulled to her chest against the brick wall. The wind whipped at her red hair, and the torn rags she called clothes.

I really need to find a better place to stay. She thought as the rain began to fall more intensely, she shut her violet blue eyes and let her thoughts consume her. The storm she was sitting in hadn't stopped for nearly an hour, though she felt like she had been in the same position for a year. She whined as she rested her head on her knees; hunger eating at her from the inside.

She was a pale ghost that had been thrown up against the hard wall and forgotten. She sat there and it took all of her will power not to think of the past, and yet she failed. The scene around her was a horrific one as her thoughts took over. The faces of her family, and loved ones flashed before her…as did their deaths, and as always the same question found it's way to the front of her thoughts, before all others.

Why did the leave? Why didn't I die as well?
