"David! Its freezing out here…" Kurt Hummel-Karofsky complained. David Hummel-Karofsky rolled his eyes, glancing down at his two children. "I just don't see why we had to choose this night to go skating…" he muttered, gripping onto their daughter's, Ella, hand.
"Because. Ella and Tyler both told me this morning that they wanted to go to the place we had our first date. When I told them that twenty years ago today, I took you to this ice rink, they demanded that I got their ice skates down from the cabinets, and that we go ice skating." Dave explained, looking to his two children for support.
"We love skating!" Ella cheered. Tyler nodded, agreeing with his twin sister. The two were inseparable, never disagreeing.
"And we really did make him get our skates down…" Tyler continued. Dave smirked at Kurt.
"See? Now just suck it up, and go ice skating with your children." he teased before walking up to the ticket booth. All in all, it was probably way too expensive to go ice skating, especially since it was the holidays, but they hadn't skated in awhile, it had be too long. So he just handed over his credit card and didn't care.
Tyler and Ella had both taken after him, both very much enjoying Hockey, or rather, sports in general. Tyler, had actually taken more after Kurt in the fashion and music department, much to Kurt's pleasure. Dave wasn't sure how many hours the two of them had spent locked up in Kurt's office, while Ella and Dave would cuddle on the couch and watch all sorts of movies.
Dave paused as he was walking back, watch his husband and two kids attempting to tie their laces. He just watched for a moment, not moving forward. Kurt looked like he was supposed to be a father, the way that he was so carefully helping their kids. Pulled out his phone, he snapped a photo of the three of them, sending it off to the kids mother and their best friend. 'This is what your missing by turning down an all-expenses paid trip to the ice rink, Rach.-D' he texted. Rachel had stayed home, complaining about the fact that it was too cold to even contemplate ice skating. 'Cute. But i'm pretty sure you don't want your very much pregnant-with- your-child best friend skating around on ice. I'm pretty sure that one, i'd look ridiculous and two, I could hurt our son. So you know, i'm good. Just make sure you remember to buy the whipped cream before you come home…-R' She replied back immediately. Dave smiled softly before pocketing his phone.
Rachel Berry had agreed to be their mother. She still hadn't honestly found someone she wanted to be with, claiming that she'd rather just live with her two favorite men forever. He felt guilty sometimes, keeping her back, but she always seemed happy to be with them. "Its like having a family and two really awesome roommates at the same time, plus, I don't have to pay rent." she had teased when she was pregnant with the twins.
Twenty minutes later, after several complaints and already a slightly twisted ankle[surprisingly none of the kids] the family of four were on the ice, hand in hand. Kurt glanced at Dave, beaming. "Okay…maybe going ice skating was a good idea…except my ankle really hurts….but…" he paused, before skating off quickly. "Catch me if you can, David." he called out. Oh yeah. Dave was going to catch him, that was for sure.
Dave did catch Kurt, but the two of them ended up falling in the process. He could hear Ella and Tyler giggling as Dave fell backwards and Kurt fell on top of him. Funny how things seemed to repeat themselves, Dave remembered the same thing happening the first time. Reaching up to cup his husband's cheek, he smiled. "I love you, Kurt." he whispered, before leaning up to his his husband. Kurt just smiled into the kiss.
"And I love you."
