"Lapis!" Kalina exclaimed before stumbling into Lapis' tent. Her face was flushed and her hands shook, however she still had a smile painted on her soft face. She sat up to face her friend, "I want to go on a picnic with you, Lapis." the pink haired girl stated.
The other girl blinked before replying to Kalina, "I'd love that, Kalina..." Lapis replied with a sleepy smile.
Kalina grinned happily at the answer she had gotten; her level of joy could not be measured at this moment. She quickly took the dark haired girl's hands. "Thank you! Thank you!" she giggled with glee.
Lapis rubbed her companion's hands and led her out of the messy tent, "Yes...we shall go right away." her eyes glowed at Kalina. She led her friend to the mess tent to retrieve snacks for their picnics. They had made sandwiches and lemonade to share with one another.
They both walked out of camp and into a wildflower meadow. Kalina sat in down in the sweet, green grass next to her friend. She gazed at Lapis' tired face. The pink haired girl had never felt so excited to spend time with her dear companion before.
Lapis took a sandwich out of the basket and handed it to Kalina along with a jar of lemonade. "I hope you're comfortable with being in the meadow. It was one of the only sanctuaries I could think of." The darker haired girl apologized.
"Oh, Lapis. I think this is the perfect place." Kalina said before sipping that tart lemonade. She loved where she was and who she was with. Nothing could best it.
"Do you really think it is?"
"Yes! Absolutely, Lapis!"
She gazed at Kalina before looking down at her own jar of lemonade, "I'm glad...I want to make you comfortable, so I needed to ask." Lapis' head looked up from her glass jar and into the sky. "Because I don't want to discomfort you."
"Oh, Lapis...you always make me comfortable." Kalina blushed at Lapis. "You're my best friend. You're one of the only people I feel comfortable around." she shyly stated.
The sleepyhead placed her hand onto the smaller girl's hand. "I'm so happy I make you feel that way. I want to do anything for you, Kalina." she yawned before using her open hand to rub her drowsy eyes.
"...Lapis?" Kalina asked bashfully.
Lapis looked at Kalina before saying any words, "Yes, Kalina?"
"When we finish eating...could we...take a nap?" the girl with pink hair looked down. She was afraid that Lapis would decline.
"I'd love that."
"B-b-but! I don't want to make you uncomfortable! It's okay if you don't!" Kalina panicked at her friend.
Lapis screwed on the top of her jar before wrapping her arms around Kalina, "When I said 'I'd love that.' I mean 'I would love that.'" she placed her head onto the girl's shoulder. She snuggled closely to Kalina.
The smaller girl's face was beet-red when Lapis suddenly held her. She didn't know what to say or do. So instead, she repeated and did the same.
"I love you very much, Kalina..." she drowsily stated, "I really do..." she smiled before squeezing the girl a bit to show affection towards her.
"And I love you so very much, L-lapis..." Kalina nuzzled Lapis' neck before burying her face into Lapis' shirt. "S-so very much..." she cried joyfully at Lapis.
"I'm thankful that you do..."
Soon after they had finished their snacks they fell asleep with one another in the sweet grass. Lapis had held Kalina in her sleep tightly while Kalina lied down in her friend's arms. They truly did havd the perfect picnic with one another today.
