Who Watches the Clockmen?
By
Patrick Moore
Radioactive Man woke up in a strange room bound in chains. He turned to see where Fallout Boy was, but he was nowhere to be seen. All RM remembered was he and Fallout Boy fought Dr. Colossus and his giant robot spiders attacking the city.
"Where am I?" RM spoke to himself.
"You're in the Clocktower, Radioactive Man," said a voice from out of nowhere. "Sorry we had to tie you up like this, but you could be dangerous."
"I'll show you dangerous, when I get loose," snapped the superhero. "Who are you?"
A door opened, and a man dressed like an owl entered. "My name is Light Owl, and I'm the leader of the Clockmen. You may have heard of us from the golden age."
"Can't be," said Radioactive Man in shock. "The Clockmen are retired."
"We are the descendents of the original Clockmen, and we need your help," said Light Owl. "The Clockman known as the Stand-Up Comic has been murdered."
"Why do you need me?" RM asked.
"We need you to recruit a new team of Clockmen to find Stand-Up Comic's killer," began Light Owl. "You see, the original Clockmen are too old to fight, and we need you and your new team to battle our former teammate, Dr. Beef Manhattan, who has turned evil."
"What is Beef Manhattan's plan?" RM asked.
"From what I know is that he is planning to do something big," replied Light Owl. "I better get you out of those chains, and get you ready to form you team."
Minutes later, the two heroes entered a lab, where there was a huge machine in the middle. The machine looked a lot like the portal from the Stargate TV series and movie.
"What is this thing?" RM asked Light Owl.
"It's the portal that will take you to find your teammates to fight Manhattan," said Light Owl, as he gave RM a strange watch. "This watch will bring you and your teammates back here, after you defeated Manhattan."
"Thanks, Light Owl," said RM, as he entered the portal.
"Good luck, Radioactive Man," said Light Owl.
"Excellent work, Light Owl," a half naked blue man entered the lab, with a man in a brown trench coat with a white mask covering his face. "Now that we got rid of that idiot Radioactive Man, we can take over the world."
"I didn't want to do it, Dr. Beef Manhattan, but you forced me to," said Light Owl. "Now let Silk Sprit and Fallout Boy go."
"Not just yet," said Manhattan. "Let's play with our soon to be dead new Clockmen." He turned to the man in the trench coat. "Inkblot, get our forces ready to take over the city."
"On it, boss," Inkblot ran off as ordered.
"Now the real game begins," Dr. Beef Manhattan laughed evilly.
