10 years later . . .
After dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, after she fought her way to the castle beyond the Goblin City to take back the child that the Goblin King had stolen, Sarah Williams moved to the city.
"Toby!" Sarah, a 25 year old busy-body, dashed around her apartment as grumbles grew in volume from the extra bedroom down the hall. "Toby, I know you can hear me. Now hurry up or Mom'll never let you hang out here again."
That got him up, if the loud thuds from his room were anything to go on. In her bathroom, Sarah pulled back her hair into a ponytail and straigtened her outfit. A howling wind rattled the panes and she shivered at the harsh, scraping noise.
"Hey Sarah, where're my shoes?"
"By the front door." With a quick glance at her reflection, the brunette nodded and flitted away to help her brother with his lost footwear.
"Got 'em!"
"All right, come on, out the door!" Sarah went whirlwind-mode and grabbed up her purse and her reluctantly awake little brother. The two siblings rushed down the stairwell and out the front of Sarah's apartment building. A sharp, autumn wind clawed at Sarah's face as she dragger her brother behind her to the train station. Horns belched out over their heads into the frosty air while men and women yelled and squawked all around the rushed duo. They kept up a harried pace until something pressed up against Sarah's side and a warm breath brushed over her left ear.
"Sarah."
She stopped dead in the middle of the hustle and bustle, adrenaline crashing through her system. A second's wait. Then she spun around, her eyes raking over her surroundings.
"Sarah?" Green eyes flashed back to Toby's as a pit settled in her stomach. "Sarah? Are you okay?"
"Yeah Tobes, no worries, just . . . just stick close, kay?" Sarah grabbed a hold of the eleven-year-old's mitts and tugged him along after her as they delved further into the underground entrance to the trains. She tucked Toby's hand into the crook of her arm as they pushed through the crowds.
Finally, the two of them ran over to their train as Sarah's eyes scoured the crowds for any mismatched eyes. She'd known the voice when it'd only whispered, but the eyes . . . the eyes. Those eyes had haunted her for the past ten years.
A strong jostle shook Sarah out of her reverie and back into the present. The crowd pushed in on her as they scrambled through the doors. Children and adults swarmed like bees in a hive with the low buzzing of their comments and conversations.
"Excuse me." A low voice sounded in her ear as a strong grip took a hold of her elbow. Wide eyes filled with some tangle of hope and fear spun about as they sought out the face of the voice. When she caught sight of plain, brown eyes and dark black hair, Sarah deflated in seconds and murmured a gentle apology.
Toby watched his sister with some worry etched in his young face. But, Sarah had said she was fine and that was good enough for him. As soon as the worry entered his eleven-year-old mind the thought vanished when took his seat at the window and began to watch the world slip by.
[A/N: All right, so this is my first Labyrinth fic. So, in case there are any inaccuracies, or you feel generous today and just wanted to drop a "Good job, feel free to review and tell me what you think.
Anyway, this is just a drabble I started in physics when I got bored. I'm sure that there is someone out there who has already created a great fic with the same idea as mine, but I wanted to write this and . . . viola!
Thanks for reading this mucho boring A/N by the way!]
