AN: Okay so here is this new story that just popped into my head one morning (I often think of Emmett then). There are so little details on the story of what happened to Emmett EXACTLY, so I decided it would be loads of fun to write. I hope you have fun reading it!

THE STORY BEHIND THE BEAR

Prologue: The Attack

EM-POV

I leaned against a large pine tree to take a short break, not that I needed it. It was my girlfriend I was waiting for. My strong legs quickly overpowered her small lean ones as we ran minutes before.

When I looked back and saw no sign of her I decided to wait, she was a big girl and she can handle herself. I surveyed the area, my eyes taking in a nest of baby blue jays and a large cave near the edge of the trail. I know, I'll sneak into the cave and scare Tasha so badly when she catches up, I thought right before I propelled myself over a couple of small boulders.

As I entered I could smell all the mildew and moss collecting in the shadows. I'd better back up so that Tasha doesn't see me. I walked backwards not caring what I stepped on. Suddenly something hard and smooth was under my foot and caused me to fall. I crashed to the floor and my fingers brushed whatever I had fallen on. I grabbed at it and my face turned into a horrified mask of shock, it was a human bone perhaps a leg or an arm.

"Whoa" I muttered. Before I got the chance to get up something slimy dripped down my cheek, I looked up and found myself staring straight into the eyes of a bear.

Time seemed to slow as got up and started to run, I saw Tasha by the trail and her beautiful face transformed from a look of relief to one of terror.

"RUN!" I shouted as I looked into her eyes. We only made it for about ten feet before the bear caught up to us and jumped on my. I saw claws flash as my stomach got a sickening hole in it. For one of the few times in my life, I felt my strength fading. I gasped when I saw the bear towards Tasha. She was frozen and I had to close my eyes and do nothing when I heard the snap of her bones. I wanted to get up, but my body wouldn't let me. NO, NO, NO, NO. If by some miracle I survive this, there is no way I will ever mention Tasha again. I heard a faint rustle of leaves but I didn't dare open my eyes. I don't want to watch the bear finally kill me. "My goodness" my beautiful voice murmured, I opened my eyes in shock and took in the most beautiful woman I had every seen. The only weird thing was that her eyes were as dark as the cave.

The woman's golden hair suddenly blurred my vision as the whole world went black.
