Hypnagogic Conversation

Gin and Stark often took naps together. Every afternoon (or maybe it was evening, no one knows in Hueco Mundo), while Lilinette was bathing (or maybe training or sleeping), Gin would drift into Stark's quarters and lay down next to him, looking up at the ceiling. Ideal times for personal and philosophical reflection.

"I'm tired. Planning a war is exhaustive business, ya' know." Gin said cheerily.

"That's why I don't do it."

"And man, Aizen's a pain. Always in a rush. Doesn't he know? We got all the time in the world."

"Time in Hueco Mundo…" Stark actually laughed a little.

"There's never enough time 'til you die, huh…"

"Mhmm…"

"It's lonely out here. Ya' can't trust anyone."

"…Yeah."

"Does Lilinette trust you?"

"Yes."

"Does Lilinette love you?"

"Maybe."

"Do you love her?"

"No."

"Do you love yourself?"

"No."

Gin turned his head toward Stark. "Are you lonely?"

He began to answer, "No…" and yawned. Gin made out the rest to be something like, "Not with you."

Gin turned back to the ceiling.

"Do you love me?"

"Do you love her?"

"No."

"You do. Does she love you?"

"Maybe."

"She does."

"Do you?"

There was a pause.

"Stark, do you wan'na…" Gin was interrupted by a snore. He smiled, closed his eyes, and fell asleep. Half an hour later, he woke up and silently slipped out the back door just as Lilinette slipped in the front.
