Disclaimer: Anything you recognise is JKR's. Also, the song verses below are from I Luv You by The Ordinary Boys, so I also don't own them. Thanks to rayon.de.soleil for telling me the song – if you're reading this now, in this space used to be a plea for someone to tell me the song and band name, which I found out afterwards but was too busy to update.

AN: I heard the song on the radio and had a burst of inspiration. I've never done a fic with this pairing before, so please review and tell me what you think.

I love you

You know that, don't you

I love you

So good to know you

But I just don't know how to show you

I love you

You know that, don't you

I love you

He takes a deep breath, rumples his hair and walks into the library, where the object of his dreams is studying alone at a table.

"Hey, thanks for letting me copy your Charms essay. You're a lifesaver." He manages to keep his cool, throwing out the words casually. She glances up and smiles at him.

"No problem."

How should he tell her? He gathers his courage; crossing his fingers behind his back for luck, he opens his mouth.

"I love y- I love what you've done with your hair." He finishes lamely, ducking out at the last minute. She looks almost disappointed for a moment, as if she senses what he can't say, but then smiles brightly again.

"Thanks!"

Maybe he should try a different tactic. Running his fingers through his hair again, he sits opposite her and looks directly into her warm eyes. When was the date for the next Hogsmeade trip again?

"Would you- would you let me see your Transfiguration homework? I really meant to do it last night but, well, I forgot." How pathetic. True enough - he hasn't done his homework, instead thinking of her all evening long, but for heaven's sake - how hard can it be to confess feelings of attraction? He tries one last time, vowing to himself to this time get the words out.

"Erm-"

"Ron." She interrupts, firmly. "Shall we go into Hogsmeade together on the next trip?"

"Yes." He smiles gratefully, slightly ashamed that she had the nerve to say what he couldn't.

"It's a date, Hermione."

As you may have guessed, I'm not telepathic, so I don't know your thoughts unless you review!
