Title: Appreciation
Fandom(s): How I Met Your Mother / The Dark Knight
Characters: Barney Stinson, Harvey Dent
Summary: It'd been his face first, Stinson just staring and staring from across the conference table, smirking almost imperceptibly when he was caught, but not looking away.
In the political world, everyone's a smooth talker. Everyone has eloquently worded speeches prepared for any event that could ever possibly take place at any moment; however, he still can't help but take note of how flawlessly the words seem to roll off Stinson's tongue. They may be talking about business and banking, but Harvey knows when he's being flirted with, forcing himself to keep his arms uncrossed and at his sides every time the blond's gaze trails over his suit.
Funny thing is, although Stinson manages to keep his tone light and casual, Harvey feels like he's being examined. It'd been his face first, Stinson just staring and staring from across the conference table, smirking almost imperceptibly when he was caught, but not looking away. For the most part, considering they were in Gotham, Harvey feels a little restless and defensive. He makes sure to neither respond nor shy away from each subtle hand-brush, shooting what he hoped were stern and disapproving looks from the corner of his eyes. The entire walk to the elevator, Stinson prattles on and on endlessly about the proposal (despite Harvey repeatedly reminding him that the meeting was over), but when the doors side closed, Barney reaches over and runs a hand along the lapels of Harvey's suit coat, humming appreciatively.
Harvey decides it's probably the suits.
