"I need your help"

Bobby sighed and downed another shot of whiskey. This girl was nothing but trouble and she calling him only meant one thing: She was in real deep shit.

"What have you done, Ivy?" Bobby

"Well thanks for the trust" I scoffed, checking the side-mirror. Fuck! They're still behind me! These bastards were following me since I left Oakland.

Being threatened and chased by the One-Niners. That's exactly what you get for helping a friend! Alright, it was my own fault. I should've asked what the favor is about, that Lucas asked me to do.

But no! Intelligent as I am, I just agreed to help him without even listening. And here I am:

Speeding down the Highway to Charming, chased by two big SUVs with armed gangsters inside.

Checking mirror again, I grinned. They had to slow down due to a construction site I had just passed without problems. Yes, that's right! Better drive slowly otherwise you'll have to deal with the cops standing next to it.
I jumped in my seat and grinned like an idiot. In my head I heard an imaginary crowd cheer and scream my name. Confetti flew through the air and I stood on a pedestal, waving to the crowd.

"Hello? Would you be so kind to talk to me?" Bobby's voice interrupted my inner celebration and I was back in my car. "Yeah sorry Bobby. I have a great surprise for you! You have the extraordinary honor to host me for the next time" I chirped praying that he wouldn't deny me. Otherwise I'd be screwed. Big time.

Silence.
The only things audible were my breathing and the cars next to me. I grew nervous and shifted in my seat. "Eh Bobby? You there?" I asked careful.

"Dammit Ivy! What the hell have you done? I have enough other things on my mind and can't take care of you, too!" Bobby boomed.
I took a deep breath and tried not to flip. He continued shouting at me.
"Seriously Bobby? I just need a place to sleep for the next weeks. I didn't ask for a kidney!"
"Watch your tone, Ivy!" Bobby growled.
"The Hell? You're talking in the same tone to me!" The second the sentence left my mouth I already regretted it. I cursed myself and listened to his answer. A loud and angry one. I listened with gritted teeth, as a loud Bing-noise alerted me and my gaze darted to the fuel indicator.
A red E stared right back. Shit, Shit, Shit!

Suddenly all the information crashed on me. I am chased by the 9'ers, my gas tank is almost empty and my only hope to get out of this, is shouting at me.

I felt the tears rolling down my cheeks and couldn't hold back my sobs.

"Bobby, please! I need you! My gas tank is almost empty and these bastards are coming closer. Please!" I begged, tears streaming out of my eyes and blurring my vision. I blinked them away and took some deep breaths. Bobby sighed.

"Alright. Where are you now?" he finally asked.
"Just passed Charming sign" I answered slightly sobbing.
"You know this Diner? About a mile into town?" I nodded but remembered he couldn't see me, so I just gave him a weak: "Yes."
"You think you can make it until there?" Now his voice was gentle again. His Uncle-Bobby-Voice.

"I can try. Please hurry up!"
"Yeah Darling, don't worry. Just be there" And then he hung up.
I put the phone aside and stepped on the gas pedal.
One Mile? No Problem!
Hopefully.
