Proposal: Lunch with Dr. Susan Calvin
Director Lanning,
As the new, and first, archivist for US Robots and Mechanical Men, I made a point to reach out to all the staff here to discuss the history and development of the company. Many of the staff here were quite accommodating; You, Director, were very helpful to discuss policy development and Peter Bogert certainly brought alot of information regarding the mathematics behind the company's line of robots. I also found both Gregory Powell and Michael Donovan very eager to discuss the field work they had performed. There is one particular employee that I would love to talk with about the company's development.
Robopsychology is just as critical an aspect to the company as the rest, and perhaps even moreso. Without the Three Laws of Robotics, our public relations would have an even steeper uphill climb. So I believe that it is essential that the company Archives has a collection regarding robopschology. However the expert in this field, Dr. Susan Calvin, has returned none of my calls, emails, and has steadfastly refused to answer knocks upon her office door.
Director, could you perhaps speak with Dr. Calvin on behalf of the Archives? I only wish to ask her the following questions.
- What were some resources you had used to build up both the knowledge and theory on robopsychology?
- Is there any particular aspect of the company that you feel would be essential to keep in the archives?
- Are there any copies of both published and unpublished material that you would like to donate to the Archives?
Perhaps a lunch meeting would be best. Thank you very much for your help, Director.
Sincerely,
Carly Witwicky
US Robots and Mechanical Men Archivist
Follow-up on Lunch with Dr. Susan Calvin
Director,
Thank you again for getting me in contact with Dr. Susan Calvin. We did have lunch and as per your request I have included her replies below.
"Artificial intelligence and human psychology. Resources and research in the former were used to streamline the latter so that our robots will avoid wasting time on trivial questions."
"Perhaps whatever pertains to the robots."
"You may view my work like the rest of the public. I publish what I intend and as for the rest, I trust you will have the decency to wait until I am at least cold in the grave."
In my opinion she is already as cold as the grave and as lifeless as the company she keeps.
Sincerely,
Carly Witwicky

RE: Follow-up on Lunch with Dr. Susan Calvin
I apologize for my final comment on my last message. That was unprofessional of me.
Sincerely,

A/N: A little story I had written to practice html coding for a class - some friends and I had just been discussing which fictional character we would like to have lunch with. I had a little too much fun with this assignment.
Who would YOU like to have lunch with?
