The storm was raging, it matched Theresas pain. The soul crushing pain was all consuming, blinding and burning. She never thought it could ever be like this. She thought he did not matter. She thought the one time would just be one time. Just a footnote, not worth remembering. Theresa was wrong.

*flashback*
"Wade, this is just a bit of fun, stop making it more then it is." She said, as she pushed him on the bed. "But Terry I-" shutting him up with a kiss, she ripped the rest of his clothes off and proceeded to take all he offered. Letting the sensations burn away her pain and letting her forget. This wasn't the first time she used him and it would not be the last. No matter how many times she went to his house, no matter how many beds (and let's be truthful: tables, counters chairs) were broken, it was just a release to her. It was easy to forget that he loved her.

When she heard Wade was back in town, she had planned to tell Wade how sorry she was and make it up to him. The past few months were hell for her. The memories were burning her up on the inside. Before she got off the elevator, she heard his voice and her heart almost stopped. When the doors opened, Terry rushed off and had her heart shatter. There, standing not more then ten feet from her was Wade. And there, standing beside him was a beautiful woman. "Oh Terry-girl, how ya been? Meet my wifey, my bae Shiklah." Wade said with a happiness in his voice Terry never heard before. Taking a calming breath, "'Tis nice to meet you." She replied. And not trusting her voice, she walks out the door.

*Now*
The storm that had popped up seeming in an instant, was the worst storm the city had seen in years. And still she walked.

#On my own
Pretending he's beside me
All alone,

I walk with him 'til morning
Without him,

I feel his arms around me
And when I lose my way I close my eyes
And he has found me#

It was useless to wipe the tears from her face, the rain was washing them away. But, it seemed that nothing washed the pain away.

#In the rain, the pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me forever and forever#

Usually the park offered Theresa a bit of peace, this time it was just heartbreaking. Walking up to the lake, she started skipping stones. Terry was lost in thought. Thinking of the dreams she had before she saw him, she felt the last hope for happiness die.

#I love him
But when the night is over
He is gone,
The river's just a river
Without him,
The world around me changes
The trees are bare and everywhere
The streets are full of strangers.#

The hardest thing in the world is learning the one you love is happy without you. In that moment, she paid for any heartbreak she gave Wade. She'd live, but the pain would stay.

#I love him
But every day I'm learning
All my life,
I've only been pretending
Without me,
His world would go on turning
A world that's full of happiness
That I have never known#

Sighing, she heads home. Knowing that she would face him and his bride as soon as she walked in, she wiped her face off and held her head high. She made the mistake of tossing aside the only man she loved.

Sadly, I don't own anything Marvel or Les Misérables
