The weak winter sun slipped its pale fingers of light around the hotel curtains, waking Adam from his sleep. He shifted, yawning slightly, before registering the warm weight pressed up against him.
"Glitterbaby?" He poked a finger at Tommy Joe's back. Tommy responded by mumbling something unintelligible and rolling over, so his face was buried in Adam's bare chest. "Glitterbaby, wake up." Tommy hesitantly opened one eye, squinting up until his gaze met Adam's. "That's it." Adam coaxed. Adam watched as Tommy pushed himself up, blinking rapidly as he tried to wake up further. Other than his fluttering eyelashes, he sat perfectly still, blankets still trapping his lower body in the warm cocoon. Tommy Joe Ratliff was not a morning person.
Adam sighed, pushed back the covers, and stepped out of bed, shivering slightly as his bare feet hit the cold floor. Sure, this Northern European portion of the tour had been great, but he felt more suited to the warmth of California. He cast a glance back at Tommy, who still sat completely still on the bed, Adam's old Queen t-shirt hanging loosely off his thin frame, blonde hair sticking up haphazardly all over. Adam couldn't help but smile slightly. Tommy was just so fucking adorable. Still, he lamented, he had to go get dressed, put on makeup, and fix his hair before rehearsal.
He stepped into the bathroom and turned on the shower, the warm water and steam soothing his sore muscles. He noticed, with a wry grin, that as he showered, the floor of the shower was becoming coated with glitter from his hair and skin. The rush of water was so loud that he didn't hear the bathroom door open, nor did he hear the crash of a can of hairspray as someone stumbled sleepily into the counter. After several minutes, Adam turned off the water and wrapped a towel around his waist, still reveling in the warm steam. He stepped out of the shower and blinked a couple times. Was that...?
Tommy Joe sat slumped against the counter, his breathing deep and even as he struggled to keep awake. "Glitterbaby?" Adam inquired cautiously. Tommy's eyes fluttered open, and he clambered to his feet.
"Why..." His words trailed off mid sentence, husky from his sleep-laden voice.
"Why what?"
"...out of bed."
"I have to be up, Glitterbaby."
Tommy blinked some more, a slight pout gracing his features. "But it's cold without you and I'm tired," he whined, his words slurring together.
Adam smiled slightly, unable to resist this sleepy, adorable version of his Glitterbaby. "Come here," he said, opening his arms. Tommy shuffled into the embrace, tipping his head back to look up at Adam with wide, pathetic eyes, still covered in traces of glitter and the faintest smudges of eyeliner.
"Pleeeease?" He begged, wrapping his arms tightly around the taller man's waist.
Adam weighed his options carefully. On one hand, yet another day of rehearsing songs he knew all too well...on the other...he looked down at Tommy, whose eyes were slowly fluttering closed again. "You win. Just this once." He took a step forward, but stopped abruptly as Tommy stumbled and almost face planted on the slick tile. Adam paused a moment before grabbing Tommy and lifting him up bridal style. Tommy mumbled a noise of pleasure, and buried his face in the crook of Adam's neck, so that Adam could feel his warm, mint-scented breath.
He carefully laid his Glitterbaby down on the bed, discarding the towel that was wrapped around his waist. And, after a moment's hesitation, he slid the Queen shirt over Tommy's head, messing up the blonde hair even more. Tommy opened his eyes slightly and grabbed Adam's forearm, pulling him down onto the bed. They kissed once, a sweet, chaste, gentle kiss, before Adam gently wrapped his arms once more around Tommy and pulled him close. He could miss rehearsal for once.
