HTTYD Theories

The Dream

Okay, there are two parts to this theory. The first part is necessary for the second part to make sense.

Part One: Hiccup was in a coma for more than just a day.

If you watch the movie closely, this theory makes a lot of sense. Hiccup is able to walk on his leg fairly quickly after waking up from his coma. This means that a significant amount of time had passed because Hiccup's wound would have been serious.

Also, Hiccup barely has any burns. Even though Toothless saved Hiccup before Hiccup got enveloped into the fire, the heat would have been intense. Hiccup still would have suffered severe burns to his body.

Astrid doesn't scare easily. She is the toughest viking on Berk (apart from Stoick) and the fact that she thought Hiccup would die means that he would have had to have been unconscious for a long time.

Berk rebuilt. During the movie, Berk is very anti-dragons. They wouldn't have just 'converted' straight from 'kill dragons' to 'love dragons'; it just doesn't work that way. It would have taken time for them to get used to having dragons around town, as well as training the dragons to live on Berk in peace.

Part Two: The episodes were just Hiccup dreaming

So, as all of you HTTYD fans should know, there is a T.V series that was placed after the first movie. With two seasons filled with new dragons an growing relationships, it was defiantly something that I enjoyed. But, if you haven't already noticed, everything that happened in those episodes is never mentioned again, not in the second movie or in the Christmas special.

The real-world explanation for this is that not everyone watches the T.V series so they cannot use any of the content from the series in future movies. But this is the fandom world.

My theory is that those episodes…were a dream.

Think about it. Nothing is ever mentioned again. Not the dragon academy, not Daggur, not Alvin, not the Whispering Death. All of it is ignored.

Also, Hiccup was not shocked at the sight of his leg. He dreamed that he was missing a leg because he knew that he would have some form of injury, yet there was still a part of him that thought the missing leg was just a nightmare. Not real. I know that if I woke up to my leg missing I would freak out. All Hiccup does is sigh because the reality of his missing leg has come around.

This explains why Hiccup says "I knew it, I'm dead." (HTTYD). He dreamed everything and the result his when he wakes up.

Plus, explain when the events of the series would have happened? Berk is left as colourful; dragons have been fully accepted and there are no problems concerning 'troubles' the dragons may cause. In the series, it is dull and grey, dragons do not become accepted as a part of the village until the final episode.

So thats my theory. Comment if you also have a theory, or if you like/dislike my theory. Tell me if I have any flaws and I'll edit them out. Try to find holes in my theory and I'll try to fix them.
