Once there was a way to get back homeward
Once there was a way to get back home
Lily sang to her one-year old son, who was looking up at her sleepily.
Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullabyeThey were living in Godric's Hollow under the Fidelius Charm, Lily, her son, Harry, and husband, James. Their best friend, Peter Pettigrew was the Secret Keeper, and their other friend, Sirius Black, was the decoy. She could hear James clattering around downstairs, talking to himself, and possibly attempting to cook their dinner. Although he wasn't quite as bad as Sirius, he might possibly burn the house down.
Golden slumbers fill your eyes
Smiles awake you when you rise
She continued singing until her son's beautiful green eyes-her eyes-drooped shut, and she gently set him down in his crib. She then slowly walked downstairs and rested her chin on her husband's shoulder.
Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullabye"Hey, Jamsie."
"Hey there, Lily-flower," he said with a smile and turned to kiss his wife. "I was just going to start cooking-" Ah, so he was going to try to cook!
"No." She cut him off. "No. You are not going to cook. I prefer to have a roof to sleep under at night." He put on a face of mock hurt.
"Lily! I thought you loved my cooking!" She grinned.
"I know, you really aren't that bad. But I think you've worn off on me. Teasing you is almost as addicting as pranking. Not that I've ever tried to prank people back at Hogwarts." James laughed.
"I wouldn't think you had! Wouldn't want to tarnish your reputation, now would you?"
"Oh, shut up!" Their mock argument ended while James started tickling her and chasing her around the kitchen table and the wall caved in. Voldemort strode in, wand out, cackling madly. James turned to Lily.
"Lily, run!"
No. No, this isn't happening. He can't be here-oh, Harry-we're going to die-he'll be all alone-James-Sirius-Peter-No, this can't be happening-
"Lily, RUN! I'll try and hold him off."
"James, I can't leave you here!" Voldemort continued walking forward.
"There's nothing you can do, now. Go to Harry!" So she turned and ran up the stairs and held her baby close to her. She cowered and begged on the floor as she heard those two unforgivable words, saw the green flash of light, and Voldemort walked in.
"No, no, please, not Harry, please no!"
Not my son, please, not Harry-James, dead-no he can't be-Peter, how could you-?
"Avada Kedavra!"
