Disclaimer: I don't own Kim Possible.

The wind blew across the ruins of Middleton, and two wolves wandered through.

At least, they looked like wolves at first glance. Upon further inspection, one would see that they were robotic creatures, and perhaps wonder what they were doing here.

Home again, one of them said to the other, the thought carrying instantaneously via a mechanical mindlink which could project from a distance of up to a mile.

Yeah.

We still haven't found anyone.

I know.

Maybe it's because there's no one left to find.

The three of us can't be the only ones left, can we? I mean, someone else must have survived. We can't be the only humans left... well, maybe we aren't technically human anymore, but still...

I don't know. We got pretty lucky. We managed to live through the explosions because we happened to be in a secret underground lab...

Where we weren't supposed to be in the first place...

But curiosity got the better of us. We managed to get Wade in on it, too, and all of us ended up surviving.

And then we found that the Project Apollo machine was in there, so we boosted our intelligence to build these bodies to survive the radiation.

Maybe we should have stuck with something, well, you know, human.

Hey, we were still kids. We weren't even out of high school. We had a chance to be anything at all...

...and we chose this.

Hey, maybe we can find the materials to build something more humanoid if that's what you want.

...Nah. These have served us pretty well.

Wade stuck with the human look. I wonder where he is now?

Still looking, I guess. Maybe he's found someone.

I hope so.

I don't want the human race to end this way.

Me neither.

I suppose we could clone ourselves... but if there's no girls around, there'd be no way to continue the human race except by cloning.

Maybe we could find some other genetic material to reproduce.

Maybe. But a lot of it's messed up by all the radiation and stuff.

I know. But hey, we survived. Anything's possible.

I guess you're right.

A lull came over the conversation. The wolves looked at each other and, without saying a word, headed in the same direction.

In the location of their old home was a large stone slab, with words engraved into it by laser.

For our family: Mom, Dad and Kim

We wish you were here with us

We will always remember what you taught us

We love you

Tim and Jim

The twin wolves looked at the slab for a few minutes.

Let's go, said Jim.

The two of them ran off together.

Author's note: No, I'm not really sure why I wrote this. I just had a sudden picture in my head of two mechanical wolves running through a ruined city, and it grew into this. Apparently, there was some sort of nuclear war or something. I'm not entirely sure myself. I hope you liked it.
