Edward lurked there stubbornly. He wouldn't come out. He would not come out. He would not... well... maybe if he could just...

He cracked the door open slightly, let out a tiny squeak that would have been a scream had he not got it under control at the last minute, and slammed the door shut again, heart pounding.

"Holy..." Ed trailed off, not knowing what to say and trying to get his breathing back under control. He pressed his back to the door and wondered if he was actually trembling or if it was just his imagination.

"Hello?" a voice echoed through the house. Roy. Ed recognised it immediately and tried not to let out a wail of relief.

"ROY!" he yelled from upstairs.

"Ed...?" Roy called slowly, sounding confused. "Where are you?"

"Up here!" was the squeaked reply. "Th-there's... it's... get rid of it!"

Roy sighed. 'Get rid of it'. That really told him what the matter was. He decided to go upstairs anyway, feeling a little daunted that something up there was actually scaring the Fullmetal Alchemist, who had faced some pretty terrible things in his time. Whatever it was must be really bad.

At hearing Roy's boots thumping up the stairs, Ed felt his heart finally slow down to a normal rate. Roy would sort this out and then it would all be fine...

"Hey, Ed?" Roy said, tapping on the door to their bedroom, which Ed was still curled up behind. There was a muffled squeak. "Ed! What's wrong?"

The door opened a fraction and Roy caught sight of golden eyes glimmering at him, just daring him to make a sarcastic comment. In a split second, an automail arm shot out, one metal finger pointing to just behind Roy. Within moments the door had slammed shut again.

"Hm?" Roy turned around, not seeing anything wrong. Until... he looked closer. Surely this wasn't what Ed was referring to? Still, 'get rid of it'... what else could he mean?

Ed sat down with his back to the door, listening closely. He could hear a heavy sigh and the rustle of movement. He let out a long, slow breath of relief. That was it. Roy was sorting it all out. He knew he could rely on the bastard for something.

A cough from the other side of the door and, "Ed? It's gone. Now get out of there."

The door opened very slowly, like Ed wasn't sure whether Roy was telling the truth or not. When he was sure he was, he threw himself at Roy and squeezed tightly.

"Thank you thank you thank you," Ed said, words slightly muffled as he spoke into Roy's chest.

Roy bit back a laugh (because if he let it out he would probably get an automail fist in his face) and ruffled his lover's hair a little.

Honestly, who would have thought the infamous, 'fearless' Fullmetal Alchemist would be scared of spiders?

I remember intending to post this back in 2009, but I guess I never got round to it. Eh... well I figured I might as well post it now, even if it's not the best. I'd rewrite it now but I can't be bothered. Review anyway!
