Alternate Ending: "Lamb To The Slaughter."
-"...acted quite normal...very cheerful...wanted to give him a good supper... peas...cheesecake...impossible that she..."
A sense of victory washed over Mary Maloney. She had done it; it was all up hill from here.
Suddenly something caught her eye, A twitch of a finger, a blink of an eye. No. It was impossible.
Her heart started to speed up, her breath got caught in her chest, and her eyes widened in shock. She had no idea what to do but watch in silent horror.
Then finally, when she saw, or at least thought she saw, his head roll to the side, she jumped out of the chair she was sitting in and ran over to him. She looked around frantically and then she kneeled on top of him and wrapped her slender hands around his neck. She shook him out of a panic, squeezing as hard as she possibly could.
She growled silently and slammed his head onto the ground making a loud banging noise which attracted the attention of the four men. As they ran into the room one of the detectives nearly dropped his notepad. "Mrs. Maloney, What in hell are you doing?" Jack Noonan cried in complete shock and horror.
But she just ignored them, dropped her husband, who she believed was still alive, and whizzed pat the detectives with a speed that was inhumane. She threw open the stove door, grabbed the cooking piece of meat, and ignored the searing hot pain that now raced through her hand. She tore her way though the men and whacked Patrick as hard as she could, which was pretty damn hard because of the adrenaline rush.
After this happened Sergeant Noonan and O'Malley sprinted over to Mrs. Maloney and grabbed both of her arms. She fought against them as she screamed at the definatly deceased Patrick, "You're supposed to be dead! You bastard! You're supposed to be dead!"
The two men dragged her into the kitchen with her arms flailing about. She still had the leg of lamb in her hand so as her hand came up, Jack's head got in the way and the leg of lamb collided with his face. He let go of her arm, and fell backwards and his head crashed down onto the hard tile. Blood slowly trickled out onto the floor from the back of his head.
O'Malley stared down at his fellow officer in momentary shock. He was pulled out of his stupor when he felt Mrs. Maloney trying to escape. He grabbed both of her arms tightly and pulled a shot gun out of his belt and cocked it.
At the sound Mary Maloney stopped her fussing and slowly turned to face him. She let out an ear piercing scream as two bullets entered her chest. She lay on the ground shaking from the impact of the bullets, until finally she stopped and her eyes closed—for ever. Sergeant O'Malley took off his hat, placing it over his chest silently mourning the death of four. The detectives, hearing the gun shot, came into the room and looked down at the two deceased bodies on the floor. "Gentleman," O'Malley started his voice cracking, "this case is closed."
Well that was quite depressing...My teacher is a little slow and I don't think I got this paper back...so i would appreciate some comments on what you all thought.
