Title: A Small Encounter
Summary: Then, in the distant end of the parking lot, was a figure. It was headed towards her, and she felt as if she had seen it before. She kept walking at her normal pace. A drabble that takes place in the time span of a minute.

Misty Tredwell walked a bit hurriedly through the mostly empty parking lot. Her heels clacked on the cement in a loud sort of way. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, in a hurry. It seemed she had barely just gotten back from the modeling job in Paris, when she received more work. Though it could become a bit much, she still loved modeling.
Then, in the distant end of the parking lot, was a figure. It was headed towards her, and she felt as if she had seen it before. She kept walking at her normal pace.
It dawned on her. The figure had ice blue hair, a tall frame, pale skin…Kalin Kessler! She hadn't seen him since she was a Dark Signer months and months ago. Though the memories she had of that time were a bit blurry, she could still remember all her comrades. Especially Carly and Kalin. How could she forget the girl she had taken under her wing and thought of as a foster sibling of sorts? Or the light haired duelist who had completely understood her need for revenge? Those two were dear to her.
For a few seconds she wondered what on Earth he was doing here or how they had met coincidentally in the same parking lot. She was still walking, as was he. Misty studied his face, a bit of confusion coloring her features. They were near each other; soon they would cross paths then be out of sight to the other. Her mouth began to form the start of a greeting.
He got closer, and her certainty faltered. Wait…Kalin Kessler's hair hadn't been that long, had it? His features never so relaxed, a harmonica around his neck…she must have been mistaken. This wasn't Kalin, was it? She hadn't seen him for months, after all. She could make mistakes.
They were almost right in front of each other now, but still walking, moving forward. The man could see the confusion in Misty's eyes. His small smile fell away as he asked the model curiously, "What?"
Misty took a step past him. She turned back and looked at him. "Do I know you?" she asked in a rush, trying to clear the fog of confusion in her mind.
The smile came back on the man's face. He had slowed. "Yeah," he replied, then turned back around and kept walking where he had been headed.
Misty lingered for just one moment more, and then gave a small nod to Kalin Kessler's retreating back. She turned back towards the exit gates she had been headed and began walking once more, leaving the wisp of the past behind. He was headed in his own direction, as was she.
Author's Note: A small Misty and Kalin/Kiryu drabble. Based very closely on an experience that happened to me the other day when I saw an old friend I had not seen in a very long time. It's kind of surreal. So I wanted to try and get the feeling out on paper…or rather, a computer screen. I'm sorry, but I have no idea why Kalin would be in the same parking lot as Misty when he's supposed to be in Satisfaction Town ;^^ I used dub names just because my first story, which had Misty in it, used dub names. Please review, no flames!
