If Kurt was anything, it was doubtful.

At first, he believed the attention Sam paid to him was simply because the result of their close friendship—which it is, but then he noticed other things. He noticed the lingering stare Sam would give him when he didn't think Kurt would notice. He noticed how Sam always found an excuse to touch Kurt, whether it was a hand to his shoulder or arm or resting their thighs against each other when sitting down. He realized that all of this and more might not be just because they were close and Sam was just an affectionate friend when Finn (Finn, of all the unobservant people in glee club) asked if anything was going on between him and Sam (and this time, he didn't accuse Kurt of being predatory).

But now they're standing outside Kurt's front door after Kurt went with Sam to see the new Green Lantern movie (willingly, as well, since Sam's made Kurt into the beginnings of a nerd), and Sam's holding Kurt's fingers gently in his hands while stumbling over his words, completely red-faced. Kurt swallows the lump of anxiety down, his heart probably audible to Sam as the blonde gets close enough to rest his forehead against Kurt's. Kurt can smell Sam's cologne and feel his breath hotly on his lips, which part slightly as he's not sure what to do exactly, but what he does know is that he doesn't really have any doubts about Sam anymore.

Kurt isn't sure what he wants to happen; he'd be lying if he said he hadn't daydreamed more than once about the idea of him and Sam, but he couldn't shake the feeling that this was a joke or Sam just being curious or if he was dreaming and he'd wake up in a second with disappointment in his gut.

"Kurt," Sam breathes, the flush on his cheeks the equivalent to the color on Kurt's.

The moment that his name lands on his own ears, he decides that he's tired of having doubts about everything and being hesitant about everything and having to be careful and wary of every damn thing. So he takes one of his hands from Sam and delicately traces Sam's jawline. "Kiss me."

Sam doesn't have any hesitation when he complies.
