**Spoilers for Infinity War**
((Originally published by me as a twitlonger on my twitter RP account, but here I'm expanding a little and clarifying who 'he' is. I own nothing but the OC, but would happily sign a rent-to-own contract for Sebastian Stan and/or Tom Hiddleston. The rest belongs to Marvel, Disney and Stan Lee.))
*Her Last Song*
She hadn't seen him in ages, though in her heart, she knew he was fine. Call it a bond, soulmates, whatever you will, but she knew he was alive and would come back to her as soon as he could. There were rumors and talk about another alien invasion, this one much worse than what happened six years earlier in New York. She hadn't met him yet, when the attack on New York happened, no one had and even fewer knew the real him. He was still a prisoner then and they wouldn't meet until he came in to stay at her inn for a couple of days. A couple of days that stretched into months as he tried to reclaim who he was. All too soon, he had to face his past, but promised to return as soon as he could. A few phone calls and one far-too-short visit until he and his friends went into hiding and the man she loved sought treatment to recover what he'd lost.
As she walked to the piano, one of the regulars shouted out for Kansas. There were only a couple of songs she knew and one that she could play and sing well. Her fingers danced over the ivory as thoughts of a smiling, dark-haired, blue-eyed man filled her mind and she cleared her throat.
"I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind.
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do crumbles to the ground though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind Oh ho ho"
As she played the instrumental break of the song, a sharp pain went through her, and her heart felt like it had torn in half. In that moment, she knew he was gone, and a softly whispered "Bucky..." went unheard over the sound of her playing. Forcing herself to continue, she didn't notice her feet literally fading away.
"Now, don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy"
Now, her hands vanished, her voice and her song echoing, then she was gone.
"Dust in the wind
All we are is dust..."
