Chapter Zero: Recall
Before boarding the train for my first year at Hogwarts, my father told me to remember two things. The first was to beat a certain boy in everything. The other was not to get too friendly with said boy. However, he didn't realize that I wasn't paying one bit of attention to him. I was too busy thinking about what my classes and teachers would be like. I was brought back to reality when I heard my father's voice, "Look who it is." I looked to my father then in the direction he and the other adults were casting their eyes. There stood a tall man with platinum blonde hair and gray eyes. Standing to the man's left was a boy that could have been the man's clone dressed in all black. My father said under his breath, "So that's little Scorpius." After shortly studying the blondes, I boarded the train.
Trying to find a compartment proved quite difficult that first time. The first compartment I came across with family was full to the brim. I remember that it contained the Scamander twins, Lorcan and Lysander, who were third-year Ravenclaws, Louis Weasley who at the time was a second-year Hufflepuff, Fred Weasley and James Potter, who were both second-year Gryffindors, and the yet to be sorted, Albus Potter. The next compartment I came across with family wasn't full, but I would rather have been stuck with all the men in my family in Quality Quidditch Supplies or worst yet, James and Fred in Zonko's Joke Shop! It contained a third-year Hufflepuff by the name of Molly Weasley, Dominique Weasley, then a fourth-year Gryffindor, and Victorie Weasley who was on her last year as a Ravenclaw.
Almost at the end of the train,I came across a compartment that only had a single occupant, it was the young blonde boy from the platform. I recall, he was laying on his back with a book in hand. His gray eyes focused on the words. I opened the door slightly, his focus went from the page to the door as he sat up. "I'm sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you'd be willing to share the compartment. Everywhere else is full," I asked shyly. He just stared at me for a long moment then motioned for me to come in as he was placing what looked to be a phoenix feather in his book to mark his place. I smiled, "My name is Rose. It's nice to met you, ...?" He look at me and offered his hand, "Scorpius." We shook and he ask if I was worried about the sorting. I simply nodded and he simply replied, "My father told me there is nothing to worry about. So, like all the other first years, I'm worrying." I distinctly remember the two of us laughing at that. We haven't laughed or done much of anything that didn't involve school for almost five years.
