Kelsi had a secret. A crush. A secret crush. She was in school at 7.30 am testing out a new secret ballad she had written for herself. The Only thing she didn't know was that the object of her affections, the person she had written the song about was listening outside the door.

Ryan Evans also came to school around 7.30 am, where he would choreograph or just dance. Sometimes he would sit in the music room with Kelsi and listen to her play. Other times he would sit or stand outside the music room so she didn't know he was there. Today was one of those days.

Ransom My Heart

By Kelsi Nelson

I'm here all alone
I love you more than you will ever know

But please don't go

Just give back my ransom heart

I love you more than I have ever found a way to say

But please stay

So I can tell you that I don't want it to stay that way

Let the music search your heart
Let the music search your soul

Let the music take control

You're my first crush, my first love

I want to set my love for you free

Free to breathe in you butterfly kisses

And your warm wishes

Your style is exquisite

You're flawless on stage

You've moved on there day to day

It is your home

It's where you roam

And I watch you grow

The music flows

You let it into your soul

You let it take control.

You have kicks and flips

Leaps and bounds

Your feet hardly touch the ground

You glide along as you sing a song

And I think you're unique

Let the music search your heart
Let the music search your soul

Let the music take control

All I will ever be is the composer

While you shoulder all the glory

Maybe one day it will be my day

Maybe one day it'll be our day

But for now my love is untold

And as life unfolds?

Maybe love with take hold

And we'll find each other

Let the music search your heart
Let the music search your soul

Let the music take control

Ryan held his breath. Kelsi had quite literally put her heart and soul into the song. It wasn't the kind she would write for Troy and Gabriella. It seemed more personal than that. It seemed like it was coming from her heart. He wanted to go in. But he didn't want to interrupt Kelsi in case she was having a moment after that beautiful composition. So he left.

Minutes later Kelsi exited the room, a folder full of songs clutched to her chest. Ransom of My Heart clutched to her chest.

She headed straight to her locker, to get her books for after homeroom. And as she opened her locker a note fell out.

Your composition this morning was beautiful.

Ryan xx

Ryan had heard her. He knew. Well he didn't know because she hadn't put a name in the song. But you could probably guess that the song was about someone Kelsi had feelings for.

She wondered, as she went to homeroom, if he would ever talk to her about it.

The End
