"I still remember the look on your face
Lit through the darkness at 1:58
The words that you whispered
For just us to know
Told me you loved me
So why did you go away?"
-Taylor Swift, Last Kiss

And maybe their relationship happened by a c c i d e n t.

She had kissed him and he had kissed her back. And it had been enough because Merlin knew that Hermione wouldn't even look at him. After all who would want him? He was just Ron Weasley, youngest boy from a poor family. Whatever Ron achieved it didn't matter, because someone before him had already achieved it.

Bill was the good-looking one, and Charlie was the dreamer (running off to Romania to be with Dragons), Percy (the git) was an achiever, and Fed & George were funny and great to be around.

So where did that leave him?

Ron wasn't as good looking as Bill, risky as Charlie, smart as Percy or funny as Fred and George. He wasn't even as famous as his best mate, Harry Potter (then again who was?). Everyone loved Harry; everyone always wanted to be his friend, girls always wanted his attention. So why would Hermione Granger be any different? (She wasn't.)

Besides Lavender Brown was one of the most popular girls at Hogwarts. Her silky golden curls, and deep brown eyes were enough to make any boy go weak at the knees. And for once, people envied him. Lavender's ex boyfriends looked at him with jealousy, all her friends were absolutely crazy about him. Finally Ron Weasley had something that everyone else wanted.

And she wasn't so bad. She was pretty, and even though she was a bit of an airhead, she had something that pretty girls often lacked: kindness. No one saw the Lavender Brown he did, no one saw the scared little girl under the shell of confidence and perfection.

There was more to Lavender Brown then people saw or heard about. So as they lay together in the shadows of his bed, her curled into his side. Ron forgets about Hermione, Harry and his family and instead looked down into the brown eyes that had captured him that day in the common room.

"I love you Ron Weasley."

He smiled a slight blush creeping into his cheeks. "I love you too, Lavender."

And in that m o m e n t he honestly meant it.
