To Mew Mountain
L.R.T.
"Jessie! It's cold!" James shivered.
"Shut up, you big baby!"
"Jess, why are we goin' here anyways?" Meowth asked.
Why? To see mama. I miss her so much I can't stand it. We were flying in the Meowth balloon above the Mew Mountain range. The same place mama died in the avalanche. If Madame Boss were still alive...I won't say what I'd do, there might be children reading this.
"I have some business to take care of," I retorted.
James gave me a concerned look. I should've known I couldn't put anything past him. He always knows exactly what I'm thinking, how I feel, how to make me laugh, how to cheer me up...okay, you got me. I'm nuts about him. Crazy, loco, rip my hair out of my skull, slap-happy in love with the guy. Of course, he could never have those feelings for me. I hit him and yell and am a bitch...or could he? Well, either way, I'm not saying anything that might make him think I love him...though that's how I feel...
"Jessica?" I snapped out of my daze and saw James waving his hand in front of my face. He grinned. "Finally come back to Earth?"
I couldn't help but grin back. "Yeah, sorry. Just daydreaming, I suppose."
"About some hunky guy?" James smirked.
"Ha, ha. Actually, yes." I blushed, which is something the great Jessie rarely does.
James raised an eyebrow. "Wanna tell me who?"
"Not really." I smirked back.
We landed the Meowth balloon but by the time we had gotten to mama's grave site, it was dark, so we set up camp.
It was about one in the morning. I was wide awake. "I have to go to mama's grave..." I whispered. I got out of my sleeping bag and crept over to the dinky wooden sign put at the place where mama was killed. I put my hand on it and ran my fingers over her name. Miyamoto...the most gorgeous name I had ever heard. Tears were streaming down my cheeks. "Mama..." I whispered, looking at her picture on the wooden place-marker. "Why did you leave me...?" I cried harder now, laying my head on the wooden piece of crap. Mama deserved better...so much better. Just then I felt a hand on my shoulder. I jumped about a foot in the air and turned around...it was James. I should've known he'd follow me.
He sat down next to me in the snow. "Jess..."
I cried hard into his shirt. "She's gone..."
"Who is, Jessie?" James asked, stroking my hair lovingly.
"Mama..."
"Miyamoto is your mother?" I nodded. James held me closer. "Oh God, Jessica, I'm so sorry..."
"It's not fair!" I screamed.
"Shh," he whispered, holding me closer than ever.
I'll never forget how wonderful it felt to be in his arms...I felt like nothing could hurt me, like I was invincible. I was so caught up in it that I reached up and planted a kiss right smack on his lips. He jumped back, startled at first then kissed me back tenderly.
I looked up at him and gazed into his gorgeous emerald eyes. "James...?"
"Yes, Jess?"
I gulped. I'd loved him for most of my life. How do you tell your best friend you love them? "I love you..." I whispered.
James just stared. "Huh?"
"I love you," I said more loudly.
James grinned wide as a mile. He hoisted me up in his arms. "Oh God, Jess! I love you, too!"
"Really?"
"Yeah!"
I kissed James on the nose and he kissed my nose back. We both giggled stupidly.
"Wanna go back to bed?" James asked.
"Yeah."
As we walked back to the camp I thought, thank you, mama, I knew you'd look out for me. Thank you for bringing me James...thank you. I miss you. Right then I thought I heard, "Me too, Jessica..." but I knew I must've been imagining things. I sighed and laid down next to James and went to sleep.
